The indexing device (100) has a rotary member (30) rotatably coupled to a support (104) and a trigger (51) pivotally coupled to the support (104). The rotary member (30) holds a fixture (108) and has a plurality of index pins (32) extending from the rotary member (30) at equally spaced locations about the axis of rotation (33). The trigger (51) operates a stop assembly (39) to engage holes (42) in the rotary member (30) to position the work holding fixture (108) at a desired position. The indexing device (100) is constructed such that the trigger (51) and one of the index pins (32) can be simultaneously contacted by a control member (70). The trigger (51) includes an elongated contact surface (52) along which the control member (70) translates to contact the index pins (32) and rotate the rotary member (30).
