Abstract:
To provide zinc oxide particles having high transparency in a visible light region and high shielding properties in a ultraviolet region, with surface treatment of inactivating photocatalytic activity applied thereto, and a dispersion thereof. A manufacturing method of surface treated zinc oxide particles, comprises:a first step of mixing a dispersion liquid with zinc oxide particles dispersed in a solvent, and silicone resin having polysiloxane bond with at least one or more silicon atoms having a silanol group (Si-OH) and/or alkoxy silyl group (Si-OR, wherein R is alkyl group); then obtaining a mixed solution containing a surface treated zinc oxide particles precursor, with the silicone resin adsorbed on the surface of each zinc oxide particle and the solvent, and drying and solidifying the mixed solution by applying heat treatment thereto, to thereby manufacture a dried body; and a second step of pulverizing the dried body, to thereby manufacture the surface treated zinc oxide particles.

A pearlescent pigment (100) includes: a flaky substrate (10); a titanium dioxide layer (20) that is formed on the flaky substrate (10); and an oxazoline compound layer (40) that is formed on the titanium dioxide layer (20) with the titanium dioxide layer (20) being interposed between the flaky substrate (10) and the oxazoline compound layer (40), and serves as a top surface of the pearlescent pigment (100).
Abstract:
Disclosed is a metallic pigment composition that can be used in coating compositions or ink compositions, specifically, in water-based coatings and water-based inks, and exhibits superior coating material storage stability. When formed into a coating material, the metallic pigment composition has superior performance for photoluminescence, concealment, flip-flop color and other properties, and does not change the color of dyes or organic pigments. The metallic pigment composition contains: at least one organic molybdenum compound; a hydrolysate of a compound containing silicon and/or a condensate thereof; and metal particles.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a composition having a substrate comprising metal oxide particles. The substrate has a coating thereon that includes an organic dispersant present in a amount that renders the substrate self-dispersible. Also disclosed is a composition, such as a cosmetic composition, that includes that self-dispersible coated substrate, and a process that includes coating a particulate metal oxide with an organic dispersant to render the metal oxide self-dispersible.
Abstract:
A process comprises (a) combining (1) at least one metal cation source, (2) at least one phosphate anion source, (3) at least one organic base comprising at least one organic moiety comprising at least about five carbon atoms, and (4) at least one organosilane comprising at least one organic moiety comprising at least about six carbon atoms; and (b) allowing the metal cation source and the phosphate anion source to react in the presence of the organic base and the organosilane (for example, to form surface-modified metal phosphate nanoparticles).
Abstract:
A bright pigment 100 includes: a flaky substrate 10; a first layer 20 that is formed on the flaky substrate 10 and that contains one selected from the group consisting of titanium dioxide, silver and a silver alloy as its main component; and a second layer 30 that is formed so that the first layer 20 is interposed between the flaky substrate 10 and the second layer 30 and that contains the hydroxide or hydrated oxide of neodymium.
