Apparatus for taking a stack of flat articles such as folded newspapers, and delivering them successively to a conveyor (84) in an overlapped or shingled arrangement to move to a processing station for labelling or addressing or for opening them to receive inserts. A rectangular hopper or gate (24) is located over a travelling belt (16) to hold a stack of such flat articles with a converging angle pointing downstream. Each bottom article (72) is gripped by the belt which is subject to suction in the area under the stack, and is pulled under the gate (24) and downstream thereof. When a given article is only partially through the gate, the succeeding article is gripped primarily by its side portions and pulled under the gate in overlapping or shingled relation with the preceding one, each article being arranged with its side edges at a substantial angle to the direction of travel. A shield (26) underlies the rear portion of the stack to prevent gripping the rearmost portions of the articles until they are moving with the speed of the belt to prevent distortion or damage.

Die Ansaugkammer (3) weist eine Deckplatte (22) mit einer Ansaugöffnung (21) und eine Grundplatte auf, die als Lochplatte (2) ausgebildet ist. Auf der Deckplatte (22) befindet sich über der Ansaugöffnung (21) ein Lüfter (4), der während des Betriebes das zuoberstliegende Blatt (13) von dem Stapel (16) abhebt. Jede der Wände (23, 24) weist einen in Transportrichtung (A) verlaufenden Schlitz (25) auf, in welchem Rollen (26, 28) geführt sind, die sich von den Seitenwänden der Ansaugkammer (3) seitlich in die Schlitze (25) erstrecken. A material layup apparatus (100) for producing wind turbine blades using fiber plies (31), comprising a first gantry (1) with a transversal beam (11) extending over a mold receiving space (10). The first gantry (1) comprising at least one gripping unit (4a,4b) attached to the transversal beam (11) and being moveable both in the transversal direction (T) and in a vertical direction (V) so as to be lowerable into and retractable from the mold receiving space (10). Further, the material layup apparatus (100) has a second gantry (2) comprising a transversal beam (21) extending over the mold receiving space (10) providing a storage area (24) for a stack (3) of fiber plies (31). The second gantry (2) is adapted to be moveable in the longitudinal direction (L) into a ply-pickup position in that the storage area (24) of the second gantry (2) is arranged under the at least one gripping unit (4a, 4b) of the first gantry (1) so that at least one ply (31) of the fiber plies (31) provided on the stack (3) of fiber plies (31) can be picked up by the at least one gripping unit (4a, 4b). Thus, a transversal material layup that currently includes many process steps that include manual labor can be automated and by that productivity as well as safety can be increased.
