An object of the present invention is to provide a carbodiimide type compound having high dispersibility and dispersion stability of pigments, fine resin particles, and pigment-resin composite fine particles particularly in a silicone dispersion medium; a pigment dispersion composition and a pigment-resin composite fine particles-containing dispersion composition preferably usable in a wide range of fields such as inks for solvent ink jet, liquid developers, and the like by using the compound; and a liquid developer using such a pigment dispersion composition and/or pigment-resin composite fine particles-containing dispersion composition. The present invention provides a carbodiimide type compound obtained by introducing a polysiloxane chain by reaction of a functional group of a polysiloxane chain-containing compound having the functional group reactive with a carbodiimide group with a carbodiimide group of a carbodiimide compound having a carbodiimide equivalent weight of 100 to 50000.

An aqueous dispersion including polymeric microparticles which are prepared in a medium substantially free of organic solvent from a mixture of one or more reaction products of polymerizable, ethylenically unsaturated monomers, and one or more reactive organopolysiloxanes is provided. Pigmented film-forming compositions, curable compositions and topcoats of multi-component composite coating composition containing the above described dispersions also are provided. The substantially solvent-free film-forming compositions of the invention are storage stable at room temperature and provide coating with excellent application properties such as sag resistance and tack-free overspray, and excellent performance properties such as hardness and scratch resistance. The film-forming compositions are suitable for wet-on-wet application over a base coat with little or no mudcracking.

An organopolysiloxane containing both an amino functional organic group and a mercapto functional organic group is disclosed. A method of making such amino-mercapto functional organopolysiloxanes is by reacting (A) a silanol-functional polysiloxane, (B) an amino functional alkoxy silane, and (C) a mercapto functional alkoxy silane, via a condensation reaction. The amino-mercapto functional organopolysiloxanes products are useful in textile and fabric treatments.

There is disclosed an additive for optical resins, wherein, even taking optical uses into consideration, the additive falls off little from such as binder resin layers or resin base materials and enables the exercise of uniform light diffusibility, without luminance unevenness, and high face luminescence. There is further disclosed an optical resin composition which comprises the above additive and a transparent resin and can display very excellent performances in optical properties such as no luminance unevenness and the face luminescence in the case of being employed for optical uses. The additive for optical resins is characterized by comprising organic-inorganic-composite particles having a structure including an organic polymer framework and a polysiloxane framework as essential frameworks. The optical resin composition is characterized by comprising the above additive for optical resins, according to the present invention, and a transparent resin.
