摘要: A locating sock for use on the leg of a hoofed animal to provide for the positioning and retention of a pad or other item at a particular location at or near the end of the leg comprising: a sole element; a tubular surround, with a first longitudinal axis. extending from a periphery of the sole element so that the combination of the sole element and the surround together provide a cup shaped unit with sides conforming to an external profile of the sides of a hoof of an animal for which the sock is to be used, the surround having a first end Bounded by the sole element and a second end by a first boundary; a tubular sleeve with a second longitudinal axis extending from the first boundary to an upper boundary for the sock; the sleeve being adapted to provide a variable length inner periphery perpendicular to the second longitudinal axis so that the overall periphery of the combination perpendicular to the second longitudinal axis can be varied between an long configuration, where the overall periphery is made up made up of a perimeter of the sleeve plus an additional perimeter; and a short configuration, wherein the overall periphery is made up, or predominantly made up, of the perimeter of the sleeve alone; and closing means providing for the sleeve to be maintained in its long or short or in an intermediate configuration wherein the overall periphery of the combination is greater than that of the perimeter of sleeve alone but less than that of the perimeter of the sleeve plus the an additional perimeter.

摘要: A propeller has a frustro-conical hub (1) which, in use, is configured to taper inwardly towards the front of the craft to which it is attached, a pair of propeller blades (3) being attached to and extending substantially perpendicularly to the outer conical surface (5) of the hub (1) so as, in use, to provide a forward rake angle. Each propeller blade (3) is composed of a first and a second blade portions (3a, 3b), each of which has an arcuate cross section and is in the form of a longitudinal segment of a hollow truncated cone (20) defined between two planes (21a, 22a) which extend longitudinally of the cone (20), are inclined to each other and which each intersect each other along the longitudinal axis (23) of the cone (20). The two blade portions (3a, 3b) are connected together along their neighbouring longitudinal edges with one portion (3b) being rotated through 180 degrees relative to the other such that the blade has a sigmoid cross section.

摘要: A flow control method allowing for ready flow of liquid out of a container while inhibiting flow of liquid back into the container having two paths in an outlet from the container: the first path passing from the interior of the container to the outside thereof, the first path having a first cross section and a first length; the second path passing from the exterior of the container to the inside thereof, the second path having a second cross section and a second length; characterised in that the cumulative effect of the relationship between the first cross section (D) and first length (L) of the first path (15), and the second cross section (d) and second length (l) of the second path (16) is such as to provide on the one hand relatively low impedance to flow of liquid out of the container (30) by way of the first path (15) with a consequential entry of air into the container (30) by way of the second path (16); and on the other hand relatively high impedance to flow of liquid into the container (30) by way of the first path (15) with consequential displacement of air out of the container (30) by way of the second path (16). The first path (15) incorporates at least one change in direction (15A) in passing from the interior of the container (30) to the outside of the container so as to resist the insertion into the container of a liquid supply duct by way of the first path (15). The invention further embodies a device for undertaking the method, a container incorporating such a device, and a closure for a container including a capsule and such a device.

Apparatus for dispensing food comprising a containment (11) adapted to receive at least, one removable rack (15), the rack being adapted to contain at least two removable trays (20A, 20B) for food for regeneration.

In a second aspect there is also provided a method of fabricating a prosthetic device and an alignment apparatus.

摘要: A diesel engine (1) drives an axle (4) through a continuously-variable-ratio transmission (3), e.g. of the toroidal race rolling friction type. A flywheel system (5) is coupled to the input of the transmission (3) by reduction gearing (8, 9). Sprag clutches (2, 6) ensure that the transmission selects whichever is the faster of the engine or the flywheel, and a multiplate clutch (7) parallel with the flywheel sprag clutch (6) is engaged for regenerative braking.
Parasitic losses during flywheel drive are reduced by operating the flywheel in a referred speed range coinciding with the engine speed range.
