The finger assembly (120) may comprise recovery devices (202, 204) for recovering a displaced floating finger member (122, 124, 200). The assembly (100) further comprises at least one guide sleeve (102, 104) with an elongate track (134) adapted to receive the guide post (130, 132), and a flexible gate assembly (150) positioned within the elongate track (134) at the forward end (136) thereof. The assembly (100) further comprises a get operating mode (170), a first retrieve operating mode (172), a first put operating mode (174), a second put operating mode (176), and a second retrieve operating mode (178). A method of translating a cartridge (106) with a cartridge engaging assembly (100) from a first cartridge receiving device (192) to a second cartridge receiving device (194) is also disclosed.

摘要： A disk playback device provides a space above and below a selected disk held in a disk holder. A turntable and optical pickup reside within the space. The turntable is moved inward in the space from a storage position to chuck, and withdraw, the selected disk from its disk holder to a playback position in which the axis of the turntable is within the outline of disks stored in disk holders. The storage position places the axis of the turntable outside the outline of disks stored in the disk holders. In a single play mode, a disk not stored in a disk holder is moved directly from outside the disk playback device to the playback position where it is chucked and played. On conclusion of single play, the disk is transported out of the disk playback device without being resident in a disk holder.

By rotating the rotary support base, and by causing the disc rotation driving mechanism and the optical pick-up to approach and part from the disc cartridge, data on a plurality of discs are reproduced in sequence without moving the disc cartridges.
