摘要: This invention relates to a dental reamer used in dental treatment for forming a root canal, in which the dental reamer prevents digging into a root canal wall and deviation even when attached to a handpiece and driven by an engine. With this reamer, a spiral working portion is formed by grinding and cutting away a tapered rod with two oppositely faced lines, and then, the ground material left with two arcs and a center of a circle is inserted into a molding space comprised of a pair of holding jigs and support jigs to perform the twist-process. In association with the twist-process, a cutting portion and a flank portion are formed on both ends of the working portion.

摘要: The invention concerns a device comprising means for indicating a value representing current fatigue and means for modifying said value based on parameters related to the use of the odontological instrument. In a particular embodiment, the means indicating the fatigue value comprises a washer (16) connected to the instrument and provided with a certain predetermined number of detachable elements or pre-perforations (17). Depending on the use of the instrument, for example its diameter, its taper ratio, the curve of the dental canal to be excavated and the duration of the operation, a certain number of detachable elements are removed or a certain number of pre-perforations are perforated (17'). When the number of detachable elements or the number of pre-perforations (17) remaining on the device is less than the number of elements to be detached or perforated on the basis of the predetermined operational parameters, the odontological instrument should no longer be used. Said device enables to avoid the odontological instrument being broken in a dental canal.

摘要: A non-circular endodontic instrument (110) is provided for reduced stress to the tooth, and to the cutting instrument during the removal of dentin from a root canal. The non-circular endodontic instrument (110) includes at least one area of non-contact (140), i.e., one portion of the instrument does not contact, and does not cut the dentin material. The non-contact area (140) extends the length of the endodontic instrument (110), about a portion of the circumference of the instrument, and interrupts a generally circular cutting face (120) of the instrument. This non-contact area (140) reduces stress, provides a place for debris to gather during cutting so as to not interfere with the cutting face (120), and serves to direct the debris out of the root canal. The endodontic instrument (110) can be D-shaped in cross-section. It could have circumferential opposing non-contact, areas and/or can be elliptical in cross-sectional shape.

摘要: A composition for endodontically treating a root canal is provided. The composition uses a thermoset resin based material adapted for insertion into the root canal of a dental patient and an adhesive material suitable for maintaining the polymer based material in the root canal. Either one or both of the thermoset resin based material and the adhesive material is conductive. As a result, the dental practitioner is able to determine where the apex of the root canal is located by means of measuring the conductance between the thermoset resin based material and the oral mucosa and periodontal ligament. This facilitates the filling of the root canal with the polymer based material.

摘要: The present invention is directed to a method for anesthetizing teeth which does not require an injection into the gum in order to anesthetize a tooth (or teeth) which requires attention. The method comprises the step of applying a composition having a high concentration of potassium to a tooth requiring caries removal or manual manipulation thereof. The composition is adapted to anesthetize the tooth so that the tooth may be drilled or manually manipulated. It has been discovered that the potassium enters the dentinal tubules and odontoblastic fibrils and penetrates the pulpal tissues of the tooth for anesthetizing the tooth without having to inject anesthetics into the gum surrounding the tooth.
