A correction device determines, by calculation, a real acceleration based on output from a velocity sensor 4. GPS mediated signal receiving portion 2 receives radio navigation waves from plural GPS satellites. The device detects a frequency change of the radio waves evoked as a result of Doppler effect, acquires horizontal and vertical velocity components based on the frequency change, and determines, by calculation, a gradient angle. Then, the device determines, by calculation, the gravitational acceleration sine of the gradient angle (G.sinθ). The device adds the real acceleration and the gravitational acceleration sine of the gradient angle (G.sinθ) to provide a theoretical acceleration of the acceleration sensor. The device divides the theoretical acceleration of the acceleration sensor with the sensitivity of the acceleration sensor 6, and subtracts the result from output from the acceleration sensor 6, to provide a right offset value. Then, the sequentially obtained offset values are averaged to give an updated offset value. This process makes it possible to readily obtain a right offset value even during the driving of the mobile body.

There is disclosed herein an apparatus and method for generating a first signal related to the rate of change of a second signal. In particular, a system is disclosed for generating a velocity signal in a sampled data servo system. The apparatus uses three track and hold amplifiers one of which is also a difference amplifier to sample the position error signal at selected times. A "present" track and hold amplifier samples and holds the position error signal during the current frame. After this is done, during the same frame, a "summing" track and hold amplifier having its difference inputs coupled to the outputs of the "present" track and hold amplifier and to a "previous" track and hold amplifier samples the difference between the present position error signal and the value of the position error signal during the previous sample frame. This difference divided by the sample period gives the velocity. After the difference value is sampled, the "previous" track and hold amplifier sample is updated to the amplitude of the position error signal during the current frame in preparation for the calculation during the next frame.

A tracking and resampling method for monitoring the performance of a rotating machine (10) is disclosed. One or more measuring devices (13) provide rotating machine performance data to a signal processor (14) that samples the performance data at uniform time increments. A digitized waveform of the sampled performance data is interpolated by an interpolation filter. The sampled performance data is convolved with the impulse response of the interpolation filter to provide a continuous time function waveform depicting the rotating machine performance data. The signal processor (14) resamples the continuous time function waveform at uniform rotating shaft phase angle increments.
