The invention is characterised in that the bearing surfaces (18, 23) are both cylindrical and in that each motor support member (24) includes an inner portion (25) attached to the supporting frame (12), a resilient outer portion (26) extending from the inner portion (25) and in spaced apart relationship with the support frame (12), and a cam projection (30) extending from the outer portion (26) towards the supporting frame (12) so that its outer surface (30a) is normally spaced from the supporting frame (12) by a distance less than the width of each of the flange mounting ears (19).
In order to mount the motor (M) the mounting flange (17) is placed on the supporting frame (12) so that the cylindrical bearing surfaces (18. 23) mate and the mounting flange (17) is then rotated to that each of the flange mounting ears (19) engages with a respective motor support member (24) with each flange mounting ear (19) being located in the space between the outer portion (26) of its associated motor support member (24) and the support frame (12). Further rotation of the mounting flange (17) causes each flange mounting ear (19) to engage with the cam projection (30) of the associated motor support member (24) to cause deflection of the associated outer portion (26), and still further rotation of the mounting flange (17) causes each cam projection (30) to become positioned in the mounting hole (20) of the associated flange mounting ear (19) so as to secure the motor (M) in position mounted on the supporting frame (12).

摘要: An analog video data signal digitisation and correction system scans a medium to produce video data signals (21, 13a) representing images printed on the medium. Two reference quantities (31, 32) representing analog reference signals produced by scanning a densely printed image and an area of the medium having no printed image are used to establish the maximum and minimum values of a range of possible values for each video data signal. The analog video data signals are compared (24) with this range and a corrected digital value obtained for each data signal depending on its position in the range. In generating the reference quantities each analog reference signal is converted into a digital reference signal dependent on the position of the analog signal in a range of possible values. For each analog reference signal only a portion of the range of possible values is selected in order to increase the accuracy of the corresponding digital reference signal. The number of bits in the digital reference signal is kept low but the accuracy of each digital reference signal remains high. In converting each digital reference signal into an analog reference quantity additional high order bits are added to the digital reference signal so that each analog reference quantity has the same accuracy as its corresponding digital reference signal.

摘要: An object manipulator includes a gripper (15) formed with at least two fingers (24, 25) which are mounted for relative movement so as to be able to grip an object to be manipulated. At least one tool (32) is mounted on a respective one of the fingers and is adapted to engage with the object. The manipulator also includes control means (16) for controlling the relative movement of the fingers.
The tool and its associated finger are formed with cooperating surfaces (36, 37) which allow the tool to be moved in two opposite directions on and off the finger but prevent relative movement between the tool and the finger in any other direction. The cooperating surfaces also cause a frictional force to be exerted on the tool when the finger is gripping an object and this force resists any relative movement between the tool and the finger in the two opposite directions.
The tool and its associated finger are also formed with yieldable means (43,44,45) for retaining the tool in position on the finger.

摘要: An ink jet drop-on-demand printing system having grey scale capability comprising a transducer having a plurality of separately actuable sections 16. Print data is provided which defines a selected drop volume and control means (14) is provided which is operable in response to the print data to produce drive signals to selectively actuate a particular combination of the separately actuable sections 16 of the transducer to produce a drop 15 of the volume specified by the print data. To provide further control over the drop volume while maintaining the drop velocity within selected limits, the amplitude of the drive signals can also be varied. A further refinement can be provided by varying not only the amplitude of the drive signals but also the pulse width of the drive signals. In the embodiment shown in the drawing the transducer sections are of equal length, while the sections are of unequal length in a second embodiment.
