Shim for a compression mould (2) for manufacturing a component (24) from reinforced plastic, typically from SMC, comprising a fixed moulding element (4), a mobile moulding element (6), and a mobile shim (10) that can be moved by an actuator (16). The mobile shim (10) comprises a conventional part made of steel (12) but also a part (14) made of a high expansion material with a mean coefficient of expansion that is high enough that its own expansion at the moulding temperature places the shim in compression against the moulding element and seals against this element, thus eliminating flash on the moulded part. This material is advantageously a polyetheretherketone, or PEEK. A mould comprising this shim and a compression moulding method are also disclosed.
