The invention relates to a method for producing a shell catalyst, according to which a fine-particle mixture consisting of a multi-element oxide containing the elements Mo and V, and a molybdenum oxide or a molybdenum oxide forming agent, is applied to the surface of a carrier body as an active substance.

A method for the production of acrylic acid, in which a product gas mixture, which is obtained by catalytic, vapor-phase partial oxidation of a C3 precursor of the acrylic acid and which contains acrylic acid, is fractionally condensed in a condensation column provided with built-in structures and ascends into itself; a raw acrylic acid is withdrawn on the side, and sour water which contains liquid-phase acrylic acid is withdrawn and taken up into acrylic acid which contains sour water, which is an extraction medium; and subsequently acrylic acid is separated from the extract and guided back into the condensation column, or is taken up into aqueous metal hydroxide, or is guided toward further purification of the raw acrylic acid.

Disclosed is a method for operating a hydraulic wash column, in which the position of the wash front in the wash column is determined by means of the rate of flow of the control liquor conducted into the wash column and/or by means of the rate of flow of the suspension conducted into the wash column, and the rate of flow is defined with the aid of the difference in pressure between points in the suspension zone located upstream of the wash front and points in the zone extending from the wash front to the end of the crystal bed in the column.

A process for heterogeneously catalysed gas phase partial oxidation of an organic starting compound over a fixed catalyst bed freshly installed in a reaction chamber, in which the reduction of the quality of the fixed catalyst bed is restored with increasing operating time by replacing part of the fixed catalyst bed with a replacement partial fixed catalyst bed whose volume-specific activity is lower than the volume-specific activity of the replaced partial fixed catalyst bed in its freshly installed state.
