摘要:
An absorbent core is provided which is useful for an absorbent article. The core comprises a substrate layer, comprising a first surface and a second surface. The core further comprises a discontinuous layer of absorbent material, comprising a first surface and a second surface. The absorbent material comprises an absorbent polymer material, and optionally an absorbent fibrous material representing less than 40 weight percent, preferably not representing more than 20 weight percent, of the total weight of the absorbent polymer material. The core further comprises a layer of thermoplastic material, the layer of thermoplastic material comprising a first surface and a second surface. The second surface of the discontinuous layer of absorbent material is in at least partial contact with the first surface of the substrate layer, portions of the second surface of the layer of thermoplastic material are in direct contact with the first surface of the substrate layer, and portions of the second surface of the layer of thermoplastic material are in direct contact with the first surface of the discontinuous layer of absorbent material. The thermoplastic material is an adhesive having a glass transition temperature Tg of less than 25°C, and/or a storage modulus G' measured at 20°C of at least 30,000 Pa and less than 300,000 Pa.

An absorbent core is provided which is useful for an absorbent article. The core comprises storage layers which are joined. Each storage layer comprises a substrate layer comprising a first surface and a second surface. The storage layer comprises a discontinuous layer of absorbent material, the layer of absorbent material comprising a first surface and a second surface. The absorbent material comprises an absorbent polymer material, and optionally an absorbent fibrous material representing less than 40 weight percent, preferably not representing more than 20 weight percent, of the total weight of the absorbent polymer material. The present invention relates to disposable absorbent articles such as sanitary napkins, panty liners, baby diapers, adult incontinence articles and sweat pads. According to the present invention the absorbent article in the region designated for liquid deposition on its wearer facing surface has a single layer topsheet onto which liquid to be absorbed is provided during use of the article. The absorbent article further comprises a backsheet forming the liquid barrier surface and a unitary absorbent core between the topsheet and the backsheet. Importantly the unitary core provides improved liquid handling to the absorbent article and increases the masking, i.e. ability to hide stains due to absorbed liquid, of the article. This is particularly beneficial in the context of articles for absorption of liquids with high color intensity, such as menstrual liquid or urine of older adults.

A method of making a curved absorbent article, such as a sanitary napking is provided. In one embodiment, the method comprises placing the components of the absorbent article on a curved surface and securing the components while they are in a curved configuration. In another embodiment, the absorbent article is curved by stretching an elastically extensible component of the absorbent article and securing the extensible component to another component while the extensible component is extended, then allowing the extended component to retract. The absorbent article is, thus, curved without the use of separate elastic strands.

An absorbent article, such as a sanitary napkin is provided. The sanitary napkin of the present invention has a curved, body-conforming configuration. The sanitary napkin has a curved longitudinal profile in which the ends of the sanitary napkin are displaced upward. The sanitary napkin also has a hump formed by the tuft of capillary channel fibers on its body-facing side. The sanitary napkin also has a curved transverse profile.

Curled, twisted cellulosic fibers are reduced in size by mechanical means, i.e., by refining. The refined fibers are formed into sheets which are used as an absorbent layer in diapers, bandages and, especially, in sanitary napkins. In one mode, the refined fibers can be used to provide shaped sanitary devices. In an optional mode, fibers having intra-fiber capillary channels can be used to direct fluids into absorbent sheets comprising the refined, curled cellulosic fibers.
摘要:
A method for producing an absorbent structure intended for use in an absorbent article, such as a sanitary napkin, incontinence guard, diaper, wherein the absorbent structure in produced by laying a layer of essentially superabsorbent material between two layers of defibered and moisturized cellulose pulp or tissue, whereafter the composite structure is calendared between one or more pairs of heated rolls, wherewith the layer of superabsorbent material binds in itself and forms a stable layer, which binds to the surrounding cellulose pulp layers or tissue layers. The absorbent structure exhibits excellent absorption properties and can be made very thin. The structure can be manufactured without superabsorbent material being spread around the manufacturing machine during the production process, or escaping from the finished absorbent article when packaging, transporting or using the article.
