The invention concerns a method for furnace-work production of a string rim (2) portion, which has been extruded on an object, in particular a glazing sheet (1), fixed in a treating station (E), which consists in producing in said portion an accumulation of initially shapeless material (4), which is given a final shape corresponding to the string rim (2) regular cross-section by means of a mobile tool (5), the possible excess material being forced back to be eliminated; producing the mass of material (4) by layering two extruded profile portions, the second portion being deposited after the die (D) has been displaced and repositioned. The invention is characterised in that advantageously the tool (5) is automatically aligned on the string rim (2), immediately after the accumulated material (4) has been extruded and on the travel path on the extrusion die (D), without displacing the object, and is brought into contact with said string rim. The invention also concerns a device specially suited for implementing said method.

A split sealing ring (10) is manufactured by first moulding the ring as an endless ring with an inlay piece (20) moulded into the body (12) of the ring (10). The ring (10) is then split by making a radial cut through the ring (10) and the inlay piece (20) so that a portion of the inlay piece (20) remains in the body (12) of the ring on each side of the cut. The portions of the inlay piece (20) are then removed to leave aligned recesses (24, 26) in the two ends of the split ring (10). An insert (30) with dimensions corresponding to that of the inlay piece (20) is inserted into one of the recesses (24), to form a tab which, when the ends of the ring (10) are joined, fits into the other recess (26), to accurately align the ends of the ring. Additional alignment may be provided by moulding a block (32), for example of cold-curing silicone rubber, into the endless ring (10) at the location at which it is to be split, and removing the block (32) before the ring is split, so that the block is formed with a recess (33) having a profile corresponding to that of the ring (10). The block (32) is subsequently used as a jig to align the ends of the split ring (10) whilst they are bonded together, and is then removed. The invention provides a method of accurately aligning the ends of a split sealing ring which can be used when the ends are joined on-site.

Described is a method of manufacturing a gasket, in which, before the gasket is fitted, a three-dimensional sealing surface is permanently formed on at least one side of the gasket complementary to deflection of the sealing surface in all zones which are subjected to loads when the gasket is in position. Also described is a tool for carrying out the method, as well as a master pattern produced by clamping a plastically deformable material between the surfaces to be sealed. A negative copy of the master pattern is produced on the mould surface, and the gasket manufactured from this copy by roll-embossing.

An automobile windshield moulding comprises an elongate body having a decorative section (5A3,5A4,5B3,5B4,5C3,5C4) for covering the outside surface of a vehicle body panel (1,2) in a belt form, and an installation section (5A1,5A2,5B1,5B2,5B5-9,5C1,5C5,5C10) forming the rear side of the decorative section and having a metallic core material (9) embedded therein to constitute a supporting frame for the moulding. The decorative section consists of an elongate continuous body having a transverse cross-sectional shape which is approximately the same throughout in the lengthwise direction. The installation section has different cross-sectional forms between a part corresponding to a side edge of a windglass (3) and other parts and the metallic core material (9) is arranged only in a part corresponding to one edge only of a windglass (3) and not in the other parts.

Le cadre profilé (8) est équipé à sa périphérie d'une lèvre (10) débordant du chant (3) du vitrage (1). La lèvre (10) une fois le vitrage (1) monté s'appuie sur la tôle (4) qui fait face au chant (3) du vitrage (1). Cette lèvre (10) sert d'élément de protection et de centrage pour le vitrage pendant la prise de la colle (13).
