Abstract:
A method of using wastewater sludge in the production of concrete comprising mixing cement, aggregate and wastewater sludge to form a concrete mix in which the additional step is carried out of mixing the wastewater sludge with an alkaline solution to achieve a wastewater sludge and alkaline solution mixture having a pH equal to or in excess of 11.5 prior to mixing with the aggregate and cement. Such a method is a simple and efficient method of producing ready usable concrete and will not require expensive sterilisation steps such as heat or radiation treatment. The wastewater sludge is disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner and will not undergo incineration or have to be dumped at sea or landfill.
Abstract:
A method for separating oil, water and other components that can be evaporated from an oil-containing material by evaporation. The evaporation is achieved at a lower temperature than the atmospheric boiling point of the component, due to the utilisation of the gas phase established by evaporation of a second component. Means for drying of fluid-containing material comprising a processing chamber and a rotor mounted in said processing chamber is also included. The rotor comprises a number of fixed rotor arms that cannot swing and the inner surface of the processing chamber is smooth.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a device and method for utilizing waste products, which contain hydrocarbons and iron oxide, particularly mill scale sludges and coal fines in an iron and steel works. According to the invention, the waste product is mixed with the coal fines and, optionally, with bituminous substances and is then agglomerated, particularly cold-briquetted, before being introduced into a melting gasifier in order to form the fixed bed, and is converted in a melting gasification zone inside the melting gasifier.
Abstract:
The invention provides a method for utilizing liquid wastes, especially those that are toxic and harmful an in particular those in the form of sludge, sewage, paste and liquids. In the method provided by the invention a tank in which there is negative pressure is filled up to 50% of its capacity with liquid chemical wastes in the form of paint sludge. The tank is made to move with rotary motion and the sludge inside is treated with superheated steam at 150°C until the sludge is turned into granulated material, after which sulphur polymer is injected into the tank being in continous motion. The motion of the tank and the injection of sulphur polymer are stopped after the granulated waste is completely coated with sulphur polymer. The granulated waste with sulphur polymer coating is poured into drums or moulded into construction elements.
Abstract:
A waste processing method of decomposing an organic substance contained in organic wastes by holding a mixture of the organic wastes and a medium, which is in a supercritical state thereof, for a pre-determined time period, wherein the hydrogen ion concentration of the medium is 10 -4 mol or more per 1kg of the medium.
Abstract:
Solidification products of excellent strength and low water absorption are obtained by treatment of mud cake (silica-containing mud sludge) such as the sludge resulting from construction, the effluent water cake resulting from treatment of dredged mud, the effluent water cake resulting from crushing plants (including gravel plants) and the fine powder resulting from the crushing plant, by a method comprising a mixing step of mixing the calcium compound with the silica-containing mud sludge to obtain the mud-like raw material, a granulation step of granulating the mud-like raw material to obtain the granulation products and a hydrothermal solidification step of solidifying the granulation product by a hydrothermal treatment, the products being used in wide application and in great demand.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an installation for the elimination of atmospheric emissions of organic solvents used for paint thinning, which comprises a purification unit (4a,4b) of wash water, which can be recycled.
Abstract:
A method for the controlled reclamation of a bottom of a polluted basin comprising, in succession, the following steps: removal from the bottom of a superficial stratum containing polluted muds; separation from the muds of the solid particles having a granulometry greater than a predetermined value, by means of screening and centrifugation; clarification of the muds by means of adding flocculating substances; mechanical compression of the muds to extract the residual humidity; storing of the muds in removable containers for their transfer to a dump. The reclamation system according to the above-mentioned method comprises a floating drawing unit (1), which supports means (6) for removing a polluted superficial stratum of the bottom, as well as an on-land treatment station (2) for the muds, hydraulically connected to said drawing unit.
