The invention relates to a method for producing particles containing at least one halogen-free flameproofing agent and at least one metal oxide or semimetal oxide, wherein the particle can be a core/shell particle having flameproofing agent in the core and metal oxide or semimetal oxide in the shell or a particle having a substantially homogeneous distribution of flameproofing agent and metal oxide or semimetal oxide. The invention further relates to particles containing at least one halogen-free flameproofing agent and at least one metal oxide or semimetal oxide, to a polymer molding compound containing said particles, to at least one thermoplastic or thermosetting polymer, and to the use of said particles in polymer molding compounds or to flameproof polymer molding compounds.

A flexible conductive material of the present invention includes an elastomer and a conductive material including silver at least in a surface. The conductive material is chemically bonded to the elastomer directly or indirectly and is thus incorporated into a mesh structure of the elastomer. Volume resistivity is 1 × 10 -2 Ω·cm or less in a state where the flexible conductive material is expanded by 10% in one axis direction. The flexible conductive material of the present invention is flexible and expandable/contractable and hardly increases in electrical resistance even after repeated expansion and contraction. A method of manufacturing the flexible conductive material of the present invention includes preparing a rubber composition including a rubber polymer composed of the elastomer component, the conductive material, and a reactive compound capable of being chemically bonded to both the elastomer and the conductive material and mixed when necessary; and cross-linking the prepared rubber composition.

Silica nanopowders with biocidal properties, especially for polymer composites, are produced by sol-gel method. The silica sol is produced from the aqueous mixture containing tetraalkoxysilane, in which alkoxy group contains from C 1 to C 4 carbon atoms, an alcohol or the mixture of aliphatic alcohols from C 1 to C 4 , in the mole ratio of 1 : 5 to 1 : 35, in the presence of ammonium compound, used in an amount of from 0.001 to 0.05 mol per 1 mol of tetraalkoxysilane, with introducing, after thorough mixing of components, the silver salt in the form of aqueous solution in an amount from 0.02 to 1 mol per 1 mol of tetraalkoxysilane, and subsequently the aqueous solution of alkali metal hydroxide in an amount from 0.02 to 1 mol of hydroxide per 1 mol of tetraalkoxysilane. Silica nanopowders of the particle size of below 200 nm, contain silver nano- particles immobilized on silica, with stable physicochemical and biocidal properties.

The foams are useful as gaskets for electromagnetic shielding, grounding pads, battery contact conductive spring elements, and the like.

A colored composition comprising: a) NIR scattering TiO2 particulate material with an average crystal size of greater than 0.40 μm and a particle size distribution such that 30% or more of the particles are less than 1 μm; b) one or more non-white colorant; wherein the particulate material and the non-white colorant are dispersed within a vehicle. This material with a large crystal size has unusually high reflection of NIR radiation and, simultaneously, noticeably diminished reflectance of visible light. Also disclosed is a coated particulate TiO2 material, wherein the material has an average crystal size of greater than 0.40 μm, and the coating comprises one or more oxide material; this provides low levels of photocatalytic activity that were previously unattainable. This coated TiO2 material may be provided in a composition.
