A circuit arrangement that reduces selected intermodulation. The circuit arrangement includes a signal amplifier coupled to a bandpass filter via an electrical path. Signal energy outside the passband is reflected back into the amplifier and causes intermodulation. The electrical path is constructed with a length that reduces intermodulation, where the length is an odd multiple of one-fourth the wavelength of a predetermined frequency in the passband. The length of the electrical path reduces intermodulation because certain signals reflected by the bandpass filter are approximately 180 DEG , or an odd multiple thereof, out of phase. Energy of problematic signals that are near the edge of the passband or in the stopband is reduced, such as third order intermodulation product and pairs of signals that produce third order intermodulation products.

It is described an image rejection, sub-harmonic frequency converter, realized in microstrip, particularly adapted to be used in mobile communication equipment. The converter avails of two identical sub-harmonic mixers employing each one or two pairs of diodes in antiparallel, obtained on a same silica substrate, and of a structure of hybrids performing appropriate phase combination adapted to suppress the image band in the converted signal. The mixers include filtering structures preferably consisting, but no limited to the same, of stubs μ/4 long, at the local oscillator frequency, having a free end, in short or open circuit, respectively. According to an alternative embodiment, said stubs are replaced by appropriate filters implemented with concentrated structures (L and C) performing the same transfer function of the stubs in microstrip. The sub-harmonic converter and a traditional converter can be jointly employed in a terminal mobile equipment operating in 'Dual Mode service hand-held' (GSM 900 and DCS 1800) sharing a unique 900 MHz local oscillator.

The present invention relates to n-port junction devices for processing modulated digital RF signals, n being an integer larger than 3, the n-port junction device comprising two RF input ports (4, 5) two passive signal-combining means (2, 3) connected to each other wherein respectively one of the passive signal-combining means (2, 3) is connected to one of the RF inputs (4, 5), and at least two power sensors (P1, P2) wherein each of the passive signal-combining means (2, 3) has at least an output port (6, 7) and each output port (6, 7) is connected to a power sensor (P1, P2). The two passive signal-combining means (2, 3) are connected with each other by means of a phase shifting element (10).
