    摘要: A bi-directional cracking valve that can be selectively opened. Bi-directional cracking valve (10, 70) is formed using an elastomeric membrane (34). Centered within the elastomeric membrane is a slit (36) that remains closed, blocking fluid flow through the device until a differential pressure across the elastomeric membrane exceeds a predefined cracking pressure, sufficient to force fluid through the slit. The elastomeric membrane is an integral part of an elastomeric cylinder (28), which is mounted in a valve carrier (12). The valve carrier includes ports disposed at opposite ends and the ports are adapted to couple to tubing. An operator can selectively enable fluid flow through the device by squeezing side tabs (40, 42) disposed on opposite sides of the elastomeric membrane together, forcing the slit open. A latch (46) is provided to keep the bi-directional cracking valve in an open state.

    摘要: A vacuum sustaining valve (VSV) for temporarily sustaining at least some engine intake manifold vacuum to an EGR valve when engine intake manifold vacuum falls below a predetermined value. The VSV has an inlet port, an outlet port, and a flow path between the two ports. A check valve is disposed with the flow path and is selectively positioned in accordance with manifold vacuum. When manifold vacuum is above a predetermined magnitude, the check valve is positioned to allow bi-directional flow between the two ports. When manifold vacuum is below the predetermined magnitude, the check valve is positioned to function as a check that allows vacuum to pass from the inlet port to the outlet port, but not in the opposite direction.

    摘要: A flow regulating device provides continuous, regulated flow of a medical fluid, as well as intermittent, manually controlled larger flows of fluid to a catheter system. Such apparatus includes a control member (10) having an inlet means (16a, 16c) adapted to be connected by tubing (11, 17) to a source of medical fluid and an outlet means (16b, 16d) adapted to be connected by tubing to a catheter. A flexible conduit (22) defines at least a portion of a first passage (24, 24a) between the inlet means (16a, 16c) and outlet means (16b. 16d) of the control member (10). Positioned in the flexible conduit (22) is valve means (23, 23a) adapted to open when the conduit (22) is squeezed, thereby providing the larger, intermittent, manually controlled flow of fluid to the catheter system, and to automatically close when the conduit (22) is released. A second passage (25, 25a) in the control member (10) connects the inlet (16a, 16c) and outlet (16b, 16d) means, and in combination with flow restriction means (25a) therein, provides the continuous, regulated flow of fluid to the catheter system.
