    摘要: The present invention relates to a ground fault handling device (GHR) that provides an interface between two power transmission sections of a power transmission and/or distribution system as well as to such a power transmission and/or distribution system (10). The system comprises a first and a second power transmission section (G, 12) and the ground fault handling device (GHR) for connecting the first section to the second section, where the second section (12) is of a first type including at least one underground power line and the first section (G) is of another type lacking underground power lines. The ground fault handling device comprises a first isolating transformer (IT1) having a first set of windings and a second set of windings, where the first set is coupled to the first section, the second set is coupled to the second section and the windings of the second set are solidly or resistively (R1, R3, R4, R5) grounded.

    摘要: The present invention is concerned with a power supply system for railway traction applications including a multilevel AC/DC converter. The converter comprises a plurality of series-connected single-stage cycloconverters or direct AC frequency converters (20, 20', 20") connected between an AC supply line (11) and a traction transformer (21). The transformer is operable at a transformer nominal frequency below 3 kHz and above the AC line frequency. On the secondary side of the transformer, more than one parallel-connected secondary converter (22, 22', 22") are provided and connected to a DC link (23). In case of failure of one of the secondary converters, the multilevel AC/DC converter may continue to operate with reduced power delivered by the remaining operating levels.

    摘要: In a fiber-optic current sensor, a 22.5° Faraday rotator, which is part of the sensing fiber coil, determines the working point of the sensor. The coil is operated with substantially linearly polarized light or incoherent substantially left and right circularly polarized light waves. In one arrangement, a polarization beam splitter generates two optical signals that vary in anti-phase with changing current. A signal processor determines the current from the two anti-phase signals. Appropriately detuned and oriented fiber-optic half-wave or quarter-wave retarders before the fiber coil are used to reduce or cancel the adverse effects of temperature and bend-induced birefringence on the measurement signal. Moreover, the temperature may be derived from the difference in the bias of the anti-phase signals and may be used to cancel temperature effects in the signal processor.
