    摘要: A novel adhesive formed in situ in a microcapsule and method for forming such a pressure sensitive or flowable adhesive in situ in a microcapsule is disclosed. The method for forming the novel adhesive comprises providing an aqueous mixture of wall material in water; adding a substantially water insoluble core material, free radical initiator, and a solvent for the pre-polymers to the aqueous mixture. The core material comprises a first addition polymerizable pre-polymer having a Tg of less than about 0° C., a flash point of at least 75° C., and a boiling point of at least 175° C. These are typically selected from acrylate or methacrylate type materials. Optionally included is a second addition polymerizable pre-polymer for providing cross-linking or interaction between polymer chains. High shear agitation is provided to the aqueous mixture to achieve a particle size of about 0.1 to 250 microns. Stirring at a first temperature effects capsule wall formation; and heating to a second temperature polymerizes the pre-polymers of the core material to form an adhesive in situ in the formed capsules.

    摘要: A linerless label system comprising pressure adhesive coating, release coating and thermal imaging coating is described. The thermal imaging coating contains as one of its components the compounds of the formula (I) wherein R 1 and R 2 are selected from methyl, ethyl, aryl, aryl substituted with methyl, ethyl, methoxy, ethoxy or halogen, benzyl or benzyl with phenyl substituted with methyl, ethyl, methoxy, ethoxy or halogen, R 3 ,R 4 ,R 5 and R 6 are selected from hydrogen, halogen, methyl, ethyl, methoxy, ethoxy, phenyl, R 7 and R 8 are each independently selected from methyl or ethyl, R 9 is selected from hydrogen, methoxy or ethoxy, R 10 is selected from hydrogen, dimethylamino or diethylamino, R 11 is methyl. The imaged linerless label according to the invention has been a bar reflectance of less than 20 at 670 nanometers, a print control contrast signal of at least 80 and a BNL background of at least 75%.

    摘要: A web processor includes a support for supporting a movable web to form a concave trough along a path having a longitudinal axis. A rotatable element is provided which includes a beam redirecting device for redirecting an incident beam of radiation to produce a resultant beam directed substantially orthogonally to the axis of rotation of the rotatable element. The rotatable element includes at least one lens for focussing the resultant beam to produce a focus point on the path. The path is configured such that rotation of the rotatable element locates the focus point on a line non-parallel to the longitudinal axis of the concave trough. In a method for treating a web, a movable web is formed into a concave trough having a longitudinal axis. An incident beam of radiation is directed to a beam redirecting device on a rotatable element to produce a resultant beam of radiation directed substantially orthogonally to an axis of rotation of the rotatable element. The resultant beam is focussed to produce a focus point on the concave trough. The web is moved in a direction along the longitudinal axis while rotating the rotatable element to locate the focus point on a line across the web, with a path of travel of the focus point being non-parallel to the longitudinal axis of the concave trough. A web is scored, marked, perforated or cut by the above method.
