    摘要: In hot ambient conditions (particularly in climates having strong sunshine) vehicle glazing panels can reach high temperatures frequently in excess of 50°C and on occasions up to 90°C plus. In such high temperature conditions it is a known problem that small glazing panel breaks or cracks can become elongated (or result in shattering of the glazing panel) when stresses are applied to the glazing panel. The invention provides a method of repairing a flaw (such as a crack or break) in a vehicle glazing panel by first, wetting the surface of the glazing panel in the vicinity of the flaw and then generating a forced air flow to enhance evaporation of the wetted glazing panel, and subsequently conducting a repair process on the flaw.

    摘要: A winder unit (1) is disclosed for use with a cutting wire in cutting out a vehicle glazing panel. The unit is capable of being mounted to the glazing panel and includes first and second winder spools (4,5) for winding cutting wire. At least one wire wrap around guide element (typically a pulley) is positioned away from the mounting means wherein
    i) the wire is secured to a single spool only of the unit and, with the wire connected to the single connected spool only, a cut is effected with the unit in a first mounted position; and the unit is moved to a second mounted position with the wire remaining connected to the single connected spool only, prior to further cutting; and/or
    ii) one or both spools are provided with a respective ratchet mechanism, the ratchet mechanism being released during the procedure such that the wire becomes slackened.
    The unit (1) may be used in various techniques either alone or with an auxiliary guide arrangement (2).
