    摘要: An electronic click wrench comprises a handle for applying torque through a shaft to a working head. The shaft includes torque sensing means for calculating the torque applied to a workpiece by the working head, and a trigger mechanism for sending a haptic feedback to a user by triggering a small movement of the handle relative to the working head when a set point torque is reached. The trigger mechanism comprises a permanent magnet that is normally anchored by magnetic attraction to a pole piece so as to resist separation when a force is applied through the handle, and an electromagnetic means actuable to reduce or cancel that magnetic attraction so as to permit separation of the pole piece and permanent magnet, thus generating the haptic feedback. Operation of the electromagnet may oppose the flux of the permanent magnet through the pole piece. Alternatively operation of the electromagnet may divert the flux of the permanent magnet away from the pole piece.

    摘要: A torque applying tool such as a nutrunner or torque wrench incorporates torque sensors responsive to strain in a shaft (30) mounting an output square drive head (2) the strain being measured as it exists immediately adjacent the drive head (2). The shaft (30) is a hollow quill shaft an outer diameter of which is splined (6) to receive a torque drive input at a location axially spaced from the drive head (2). A central shaft (31) extends from the drive head (2) centrally up the quill shaft (30) and a flexible cantilever beam (34) is mounted between a cranked end (37) of the central shaft (31) as it extends out of the quill shaft (2) and the corresponding end of the quill shaft (2). One or more strain sensing transducers (38), preferably S.A.W. devices, are mounted on the cantilever beam (34) to detect flexure of the beam (34), and the resulting output signal is passed through an inductive or capacitive coupling (39,40) for transmission to a CPU (27) and display (28).

    摘要: A torque transducer comprises strain sensing means on a torque deformable shaft and slipring means for transmitting the torque signals from the rotating shaft to stationary brush means. The slipring means are annular discs of carbon material, such as sintered graphite, and the brush means are individual strips of flexible metal passing under tension partially around the respective slipring discs. The electrical contact between the strain sensing means and the carbon discs is by means of a number of printed circuit boards each of which has an annular or substantially annular portion with its conductive coating in face-to-face contact with a face of a respective carbon disc. The carbon discs and printed circuit boards being in axial compression on the shaft.

    摘要: An electrical connector including an insulator and a number of contacts for mounting on a substrate such as a printed circuit board. As disclosed, the electrical connector includes an elongated insulator block carrying contacts in the form of pins, an end of each of which is received in a printed circuit board aperture to be soldered to the printed circuit board. The elongated insulator block further includes a series of holes, each intermediate an adjacent pair of contacts of the connector, precisely located relative to the contact locations, to facilitate positioning the connector for insertion of the pins into a printed circuit board. The insulator block is notched adjacent each of the holes to facilitate breaking the connector to a desired length, and hence containing a desired number of contacts. The insulator block further has generally semi-cylindrical indentations at each of its ends. To mechanically secure the electrical connector to a printed circuit board, prior to soldering of the contact pins thereto, a peg is inserted through one of the holes in the insulator into gripping engagement with the walls of an aperture in the printed circuit board.

    摘要: In a variable torque rate test joint, screw-threaded first and second elements (1, 4) are rotated relative to one another by a tool under test. At least one spring beam (8) is cantilevered over a pivot point (10) to exert an axial force between the first and second elements (1, 4) and the torque rate of the test joint can be varied by moving the pivot point (10) to change the axial force. The first element may be a shaft (1) that is fixed during testing and the second element is a nut (4) rotatably mounted on the shaft, whereby the element rotated by the tool has a minimal moment of inertia. Whichever of the first and second elements (1, 4) is held stationary during the test may be mounted in a hub (18) that is locked during the test but can be rotated at the end of the test to reset the test joint. Measurements may be made of the torque and the rotation angle to derive an actual torque rate of the joint, which allows correction of errors by moving the pivot point (10).
