    摘要: Fuel consumption of an internal combustion engine provided with fuel injection is monitored by means of a flow sensor 20 included in the fuel supply line 11 between tank 18 and fuel pump 10. The fuel return 14 from injector distributor 12 and/or injectors 13 is re-routed from the conventional path to the fuel tank 18 and instead joins the supply line 11 by means of a T-piece 15 between sensor 20 and pump 10. A radiator 30 is included in the fuel return line 14 for cooling recirculating fuel thereby preventing fuel vapour lock.

    摘要: Electronic measuring apparatus, specifically for measuring the fuel consumption of a vehicle, is arranged to receive distance indicative signals from a speed sensor and rate of fuel flow signals from a flowmeter sensor. The values represented by these signals are then divided by suitable processing means, such as a microprocessor, and the resulting output signal provides an indication on a display of fuel consumption with respect to distance travelled. A manually activatable calibration circuit causes storage of the value of the speed-dependent signal at the moment of manual activation and the microprocessor makes use of this stored reference value as a weighting factor for the calculation of fuel consumption. Accordingly it is arranged that the manual activation of the calibration circuit should take place at a predetermined speed, and thenceforth other speeds are calculated on the basis of the predetermined speed corresponding to the value of the speed-dependent signal at the moment of activation of the calibration circuit.

    摘要: A flow transducer of the turbine type comprises a tube (11) of plastics or glass through which flows liquid to be measured. Mounted within the tube 11 is a helically vaned rotor (28) whose rotation is sensed by light emitting and photosensitive devices (40, 41) located on opposite sides of the tube (11). The devices (40,41) are disposed and directed, and the refractive index of the tube (11) is chosen so that light from the light emitting device (40) will be received by the device (41) when liquid is present in the tube and not received when there is an air or vapour bubble present. Preferably, the devices are located in line directly opposite each other and the refractive index of the tube (11) is substantially the same as that of the liquid whose flow is to be measured.
