摘要： Sizing apparatus (10) for handling and casing of a flowable material such as meat is provided in order to produce individual, loose-filled casings (98) having product evenly distributed along the lengths thereof. The apparatus (10) preferably includes an elongated, tubular horn (16) having a discharge end (20) and adapted to receive a length of casing material (21) thereover. A tunnel device (14) having an inlet end (32) is situated closely adjacent the discharge end (20) and is oriented to receive the forward ends (96) of partially filled casings (98), in order to evenly distribute the meat as the casings (98) are formed. Separable voider jaws (24, 26) and a clipper (28) are employed for clipping the ends of the casings (98). The tunnel device (14) preferably includes rollers (40, 64) at the inlet end (32) thereof, with pickup conveyor assemblies (50, 70) downstream of the rollers (40, 64) which receive and continue the conveyance of the casings (98) through and out of device (14).

摘要： A conversion device (72) which permits an existing self-contained meat patty forming machine to be adapted for use with a separate, high capacity meat pump (70), so as to increase the output capacity of the patty former. The conversion structure includes an elongated, apertured meat delivery tube (82) adapted to be used in lieu of an existing pivotal valving tube (58) provided with the original machine, together with an accumulator (90) coupled to the delivery tube. Operation of the separate pumping assembly is governed by that of the acculumator, and, ultimately, the operation of the patty forming apparatus. In this fashion the speed of the separate pumping assembly can be matched with that of the patty former so as to maintain continuous, trouble free operation.

摘要： A jet-knife assembly for meats or like products is provided which assures even, predictable grinding with a minimum of objectionable fines or agglomerated strings, so as to yield final products of consistent dimensions and characteristics. The overall assembly preferably includes a plate presenting only a single set of circularly arrayed apertures therethrough, together with a cooperating, multiple-blade, rotating knife adjacent the plate; the knife blades each have elongated fluid-conveying channels along the operating faces thereof, which are sized relative to the plate apertures so that the cross-sectional area of the channel is always greater than the total plate open area in communication with the channel during blade rotation. Pressurized steam or air is directed to the blade channels during operations, so that as the knife rotates and blade channels come into communication with the plate apertures, product is expelled or "popped" out of the plate apertures. Provision of non-bridging blade channels assures substantially constant pressure conditions at each plate aperture to yield the most consistent final products.

摘要： A dual-piston pump apparatus (12) includes a pair of reciprocating sleeves (78) within which a pair of reciprocating pistons (80) are disposed. The pistons (112) and sleeves (78) are each supported on a frame (10) for independent movement along a line angled relative to horizontal by an angle less than about 45 degrees.
