摘要: An integrated automated manufacturing system for finishing individual garments is provided. The system includes a conveyor (12), a fixture (24) constructed for movement on the conveyor (12), a form (58) for holding a garment for finishing in a predetermined fixed orientation relative to the fixture (24), and finishing stations (70) to which the conveyor (12) carries garments mounted on the fixtures (24). The fixture form (58) can be inflated to a 3-D form, and the finishing station (70) can include robot manipulated tools, apply chemical or mechanical finishes, etc. A computer (91) integrates the operation of the system receiving information from the operator about the physical characteristics of the garments and the finishing steps to be performed.

摘要: An automatic garment inspection and measurement system can create a two-dimensional or three-dimensional electronic representation of an object. This electronic representation can then be combined with other electronic representations to create a database of measurements from which standard patterns can be generated for use in manufacturing garments. The electronic representation can also be used to compare the manufactured object it represents to an ideal representation in order to determine if the object's measurements are within a predetermined tolerance of the ideal representation. A machine vision system is used to capture an image of the object and convert that image into a digital representation which can then be added to a database to be used to compile an ideal pattern or can be compared to an already existing ideal image to determine if the object is the correct size.

摘要: Ergonomic garments (10) are disclosed which provide a more three-dimensional fit than conventional garments. These ergonomic garments (10) are characterized by seams which curve towards a plane of movement of the limbs of the wearer. Trousers are provided with legs having an outseam (12) that curves towards a front longitudinal axis (18) and an inseam (20) that curves towards a rear longitudinal axis (22) or vice versa. Garments, shirts and blouses are provided with sleeves (30) having one or more longitudinal seams that curve towards a longitudinal axis along the front or rear of the sleeve, coinciding with the plane of motion of the arm. Such garments provide more freedom of movement than conventional garments with straight seams.

摘要: An apparatus and method is provided for creating custom-fitted garments wherein the customer provides critical information which is known to or easily ascertainable by the customer without assistance. Using this critical information, a controller (10) applies rules contained in a model to estimate other critical dimensions necessary for the production of a selected garment, and which are not easily ascertainable directly by the customer without assistance. Using the actual and estimated critical dimensions, the controller (10) determines the pattern data which is used to produce custom-made clothing which provides a superior fit to that which a customer would typically experience from the retail purchase of a similar mass-produced garment.

摘要: An apparatus and method for applying textile treatment finishing agents to garments or garment work pieces is provided. The apparatus includes a rotating drum (32) and a nozzle (15) for generating a fine mist or fog of textile treatment agents inside the rotating drum (32). The apparatus can be constructed as a dedicated processing machine, or a conventional, industrial washer or dryer can be fitted with an appropriate nozzle (15) and feed lines (16, 19) to provide a dual purpose machine which can be used for its originally intended purpose, and can be selectively used for applying textile treatment agents. Uniform coverage of the surface of the garment is assured by tumbling the garments through the fog created by the nozzle means (15). By controlling the size of the droplets, and the time during which mist or fog is generated, the amount of chemical agent absorbed by the garments can be controlled. The use of the finely divided, air dispersed liquid agent avoids wasted processing chemicals and permits the use of more concentrated chemical agents.

摘要: A separating and transfer conveyor for stacked fabric parts. An endless conveyor (38) feeds the stack (35) into position for separating the uppermost part from the stack. A mechanism having a knife edge bar (86) or opposed fabric engaging needles (218) is lowered and engages the part for dragging the part to be separated off the stack. The second part on the stack is held with the stack by a pressure force by a series of vacuum providing orifices or recesses (124 and 125) in a horizontally disposed support surface and/or by retractable fabric piercing needles (228). The part separating and translating bar is connected to a support plate which may be vibrated in a generally horizontal plane to assist in breaking the frictional connection between the part to be separated and remaining parts in the stack as they are separated from each other. The separated parts are presented seriatim to a guide surface (14) which guides the part under the conveyance of an air jet stream along a feed path to another work station (40).
