摘要: A microprocessor-controlled machine and method for automatically removing adjacent pieces from a stack (380) of fabric plies (381) (382), properly orienting these pieces adjacent one another, and joining these pieces by sewing at feast one stitch or seam, to form a partially sewn garment such as a T-shirt sewn at the shoulder seams. The machine Includes fabric positioning and engaging mechanisms, and a transport means for engaging and conveying fabric pieces while maintaining engaged portions thereof in predetermined alignment. The over-all machine includes three portions: a positioning portion (32) having a plurality of movable platforms (76) (145) (160) and a traveling carriage (130) equipped with a powered roller (332) that carries a fabric engaging mechanism (348); a sewing portion (34) having a sewing machine, (210) a plurality of platforms and a fabric transport mechanism that includes a pin chain (206) for automatically engaging and transporting fabric past the sewing machine while maintaining the engaged fabric in proper alignment; and an unload/stacker portion (36) for disengaging the partially sewn garment from the pin chain and automatically stacking same.

摘要: A system for selectively loading the lowermost segment of a shingled stack (360) of limp material segments, where each segment includes one or more adjacent layers of said limp material, and wherein adjacent segments (362-367) of said stack are laterally offset along a reference axis. The system includes a substantially planar surface (301-305) adapted to support the shingled stack thereon, in a position so that the leading edge of the lowermost segment (362) is adjacent to a reference point along the reference axis. A selectively operable extractor (320) transports the lowermost segment in the direction of the reference axis and away from the stack. The extractor includes one of more sets of hinged jaws (328) positioned for movement in the direction of the reference axis between the reference point and a point displaced from the reference point along the reference axis. The sets of jaws are adapted to selectively grip a portion of the leading edge of the lowermost segment when that leading edge is adjacent to the reference point.

摘要: A separating and transfer conveyor for stacked fabric parts. An endless conveyor (38) feeds the stack (35) into position for separating the uppermost part from the stack. A mechanism having a knife edge bar (86) or opposed fabric engaging needles (218) is lowered and engages the part for dragging the part to be separated off the stack. The second part on the stack is held with the stack by a pressure force by a series of vacuum providing orifices or recesses (124 and 125) in a horizontally disposed support surface and/or by retractable fabric piercing needles (228). The part separating and translating bar is connected to a support plate which may be vibrated in a generally horizontal plane to assist in breaking the frictional connection between the part to be separated and remaining parts in the stack as they are separated from each other. The separated parts are presented seriatim to a guide surface (14) which guides the part under the conveyance of an air jet stream along a feed path to another work station (40).

摘要: The invention relates to a sewing installation, comprising: a first robot (9), which takes an upper material part (7) from a first stacking device (1) and a lower material part (8) from a second stacking station (2) and transports the upper material part (7) and the lower material part (8) to an insertion station (11) and lays the upper material part and the lower material part on top of each other congruently in the insertion station and arranges the upper material part and the lower material part in a sewing material retainer (27), which holds together the upper material part (7) and the lower material part (8) congruently, wherein the sewing material retainer (27) holds the upper material part (7) and the lower material part (8) in such a way that the upper material part and the lower material part protrude beyond an outer contour of the sewing material retainer by a predetermined distance (30) on the outside. The invention further relates to a second robot (13), which takes a sewing material retainer (27) from the insertion station (11) and feeds the sewing material retainer to a first sewing station (16), which comprises a first sewing machine (45), wherein the first sewing machine (45) follows the outer contour of the sewing material retainer (27) and in the process sews the upper material part (7) and the lower material part (8) to each other by means of a seam (31) produced by the first sewing machine in the area of the protruding distance (30) of the upper material part (7) and of the lower material part (8).
