Encapsulated nanoscale particles of organic pigments include a polymer-based encapsulating material, and one or more nanoscale organic pigment particles encapsulated by the polymer-based encapsulating material. Such encapsulated nanoscale particles of organic pigments can be made by providing nanosized organic pigment particles comprised of surface-associated sterically bulky stabilizer compounds; providing a copolymer material comprising organic pigment-affinic functional groups and non pigment affinic monomer units; associating the nanoscale organic pigment particles with the copolymer material so as to effect a deposited layer or shell of the copolymer material around said nanoscale organic pigment particles, thereby producing an encapsulated nanoscale organic pigment particle; and optionally further reinforcing the encapsulated nanosized organic pigment particle with one or more surface treatments.

A system is provided for automatically analyzing timing constraints of capabilities, and establishing parameters for automatic generation of finite-state machines which schedule from print engine capabilities. The system generates a finite-state machine which encodes, for each capability, a means by which any given schedule may be extended to one that includes a correct or optimal schedule for that particular capability. The system generates finite-state machines for both forward and backwards scheduling. It is adapted for both greedy and optimal search strategies. The system facilitates selectively leaving classes of constraints for run-time checking in order to reduce a size of a finite-state machine. Finite machines so generated are suitably used with schedulers to alternately control operation of a print engine.

An apparatus for advancing a copy sheet (46) is disclosed. The apparatus includes a movable imaging member (10) for receiving a toner image thereon. The copy sheet (46) makes contact with the imaging member (10) to transfer the toner image from the imaging member to the copy sheet. A fusing member (62) is adapted to fuse the toner image to the copy sheet (46) and advance the copy sheet (46) at an adjustable velocity. A controller (74) is in communication with both the imaging member (10) and the fusing member (62) so as to maintain the velocity of the copy sheet (46) with that of the imaging member (10), at a selected relationship.

Described herein is a method and apparatus for consistently rotating high addressability bitmap images to be rendered on a printing system. A first step encodes the high addressability image to produce a regular bitmap array and then rotates the regular array. A compact dot growth operation is applied to assure that exposure pulses for any gray pixels are consistently positioned to provide a consistent output which is independent of the rotation direction.

In either embodiment, light passes through the fluid to the detector. In another embodiment, the rotatable member may have a plurality of light pipes, and blades.
