An automotive tufted carpet with improved acoustic properties is formed with a two-part primary backing. The first backing layer is formed of a woven or non-woven material, and the second backing layer is formed of a microfilament spunlaced material possessing sound absorbing acoustic properties. The first backing layer and second backing layer are thermobonded together with an adhesive web positioned therebetween to form the two-part primary backing. Tufts of yarn are then sewn through the two-part primary backing. The resulting acoustically enhanced automotive tufted carpet may be backcoated or precoated, and may have a secondary backing adhered thereto as a matter of choice.

The invention relates to a pneumatic suspension system (1) comprised of at least the following pneumatic suspension components, namely of: (a) a pneumatic suspension bellows (2) made of an elastomeric material which encloses an air chamber whose volume varies, and provided, for the most part, with an embedded strengthening support; (b) a pressure reservoir (3) comprising a first fastening area (4) with an outer diameter (D1) on which one end of the pneumatic suspension bellows (2) is fastened by means of a clamping ring (5), whereby the outer diameter (D1) includes the clamping ring, and; (c) a pneumatic suspension piston (6) comprising a second fastening area (7) with an outer diameter (D2) on which the other end of the pneumatic suspension bellows (2) is also fastened by means of a clamping ring (8), whereby the outer diameter (D2) also includes the clamping ring, as well as comprising a roll-off piston (9) with an outer diameter (D3) on whose outer wall the pneumatic suspension bellows can roll off while forming a first rolling fold (10). The inventive pneumatic suspension system (1) is characterized in that the pressure reservoir (3), while increasing the outer diameter (D4) thereof, is provided with a contoured roll-off surface (11) outside of the first fastening area (4). Said roll-off surface has a beginning (A) and an end (B) and is provided for a second rolling fold (12) which constantly rests against the roll-off surface and which can roll off in only a limited manner compared to the first rolling fold (10).
