摘要: A thermoplastic composition includes: a first branched polycarbonate copolymer end-capped with 4-hydroxybenzonitrile (4-HBN) having a molecular weight M1; and a second branched polycarbonate copolymer end-capped with 4-HBN having a molecular weight M2. M1 is less than M2. Methods for determining entanglement molecular weight (Me) of a polycarbonate copolymer include: preparing a sample of a branched polycarbonate copolymer including a 1,1,1-tris-hydroxy-phenylethane (THPE) branching agent and that is end-capped with 4-HBN; determining phase angle (∂) versus complex modulus (G*) of the sample using a small amplitude oscillatory rheology process at a specified temperature; determining a minima in the ∂ of the sample; determining a plateau modulus (GN) of the sample from the determined minima of ∂; and calculating the Me of the sample from the GN.

摘要: Disclosed herein are methods of forming a soil amendment, the method comprising: a. providing a carbon dioxide source; b. adsorbing carbon dioxide from the carbon dioxide source with sodium oxide of sodium bentonite clay to form a first sodium carbonate; c. reacting sodium bentonite clay with an olivine magnesium silicate to form magnesium carbonate and sodium silicate; d. reacting the sodium silicate with carbon dioxide to form a second sodium carbonate and silicon dioxide; and e. forming the soil amendment by combining the generated magnesium carbonate and the silicon dioxide, where steps c) and d) continue in a continuous fashion until the olivine magnesium silicate is consumed.
