The present invention relates to environmentally friendly delayed crosslinking complexes that are useful in subterranean treatment fluids. One embodiment of the present invention provides a method of providing a treatment fluid having a first viscosity and includes: an aqueous base fluid, a viscosifying agent, a delayed crosslinking complex having : a metal and a ligand, the ligand having at least one hydroxyl group and at least one carboxylic acid group; and placing the treatment fluid in a subterranean formation. In some embodiments, the delayed crosslinking complex is compliant and/or the viscosifying agent is compliant.

Methods and systems for integral storage and blending of the materials used in oilfield operations are disclosed. A modular integrated material blending and storage system includes a first module comprising a storage unit, a second module comprising a liquid additive storage unit and a pump for maintaining pressure at an outlet of the liquid additive storage unit. The system further includes a third module comprising a pre-gel blender. An output of each of the first module, the second module and the third module is located above a blender and gravity directs the contents of the first module, the second module and the third module to the blender. The system also includes a pump that directs the output of the blender to a desired down hole location. The pump may be powered by natural gas or electricity.

The present invention also provides novel compounds (3) and (4) and processes for their preparation.

Methods and systems for blending fluids used in subterranean operations are disclosed. A first portion of a fluid component of the slurry is passed through a non-slurry pump (108) in a first process line (102). A second portion of the fluid component of the slurry is passed to a mixing tub (118) in a second process line (104). A solid component is added to the second portion of the fluid component of the slurry in the mixing tub. The second portion of the fluid component of the slurry is mixed with the solid component in the mixing tub so that the second portion of the fluid component of the slurry has a higher concentration than a desired downhole concentration. The output of the mixing tub is pumped through a slurry pump (122). The output of the slurry pump is diluted by adding the first portion of the fluid component of the slurry from the first process line and the diluted mixture is directed to a high pressure pump.

A method of gravel packing a treatment zone of a well includes the steps of: (A) forming a treatment fluid including a continuous aqueous phase and gravel, wherein the aqueous phase includes: (i) water; (ii) diutan; (iii) oxidizer in the range of 0.1% to 2% by weight of the water; (iv) organic acid in the range of 0.5% to 5% by weight of the water; and (v) transition metal compound in the range of 0.001% to 0.25% by weight of the water; and (B) introducing the treatment fluid into the treatment zone; wherein the design temperature is less than 180°F; wherein the continuous phase of the treatment fluid has a viscosity in the range of 10 cP to 75 cP at the design temperature; and wherein the concentration of the organic acid is less than would cause the diutan to salt out at the design temperature.
