A method for cleaning process gases, such as flue gases formed during combustion in a boiler, especially during combustion of waste, in which method a sorbent, such as an absorbent and/or an adsorbent, is caused to react with gaseous pollutants present in the process gases, such as acidifying components and/or heavy metals, and/or organic compounds, thereby forming particulate pollutants, which are separated in a subsequent dust separator, such as a bag filter (6). In the method, the moisture content and temperature of the process gases as well as the content of at least one of the gaseous pollutants are measured. The relative humidity of the process gases is increased from a substantially constant basic level (BL) to an increased level (BI), this increase (I) being initiated by said content exceeding an upper limit value (UL). The amount of sorbent supplied to the process gases is then increased. The relative humidity of the process gases is decreased after a limited first period (t51), and/or this decrease is initiated by said content being below a lower limit value (LL), thereby restoring the relative humidity to said basic level (BL).

A method and a device for recovering crystals from a solution by evaporation with crystallisation in an evaporation plant having at least two stages are disclosed. In the method, the crystallised salt is separated in each evaporation stage (n) from mother liquor and is, in all stages except the first, dissolved to a substantially saturated solution, which is then conducted to the preceding evaporation stage (n-1). The crystallised salt in the first evaporation stage of the plant is collected as final product. The device comprises at least two evaporators (I1, I2, I3) with an inlet (1, 2, 3) for heating medium, and an inlet (6, 11, 14) for the solution to be evaporated, and an outlet (7, 12, 16) for the evaporated solution. The outlet of each evaporator (I1, I2, I3) is provided with separating means (C1, C2, C3) for separating crystals from mother liquor. The inlet of an evaporator (I1, I2...In-1) is connected to the separating means (C2, C3...Cn) of the subsequent evaporator (I2, I3...In) for receiving crystals from the separating means, and to a supply means (5) for liquid which forms, with the crystals, a substantially saturated solution which is to be evaporated. The outlet (10) for crystals from the separating means (C1) of the first evaporator (I1) of the device is the product outlet.

Hot process gases are passed through a contact reactor (10), in which a particulate absorbent material, which is reactive with gaseous pollutants in the gases, is introduced into the gases to convert the gaseous pollutants into separable dust. The process gases are then passed through a dust separator (5). The major part of the dust separated in the dust separator (5) is passed to a mixer (11), in which it is mixed and moistened, whereupon it is recirculated as absorbent material by being introduced, together with fresh absorbent, into the process gases. Burnt lime is added as fresh absorbent. The dust is kept so long in the mixer and recirculated so many times that the total residence time of the burnt lime in the mixer in moistened state is sufficiently long for the burnt lime to react substantially completely with water supplied to the mixer and form slaked lime.

In a process for drying coated surfaces in a hot-air drier, part of the hot air in the drier is continuously circulated therein as a secondary airstream which is mixed with a primary airstream heated to above the drying temperature Tmax. This reduces the quantity of hot air to be fed into the drier and thus the material requirements are reduced and the heating time shortened. A hot-drier for implementing the process has, in the hot-air chambers (7, 8) arranged symmetrically on either side in the interior (6) of the drier, a separating wall (22) dividing an internal chamber (7) and an outer chamber (8) which has an intake aperture (9) at its lower end for secondary air. At the lower end of the inner chamber (7), the primary air is fed in at a higher flow rate and mixed with the secondary air taken in through the aperture (9).
