摘要: A steam shower (10) is provided for supplying steam to a web in a paper machine. The steam shower includes a diffuser assembly (14) mounted to the cross-beam (12) for movement in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the cross beam. The cross-beam defines an interior steam header (34) for connection to a source of steam. The diffuser assembly includes a plurality of separated steam compartments (104). The diffuser assembly is mounted to the cross beam for movement in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the cross beam between a retracted and an extended position, in which the steam compartments are disconnected from the steam header.

摘要: An apparatus and method to use steam to atomize water to produce a mixture of moisture and heat for application to the web of a paper machine for both production improvement and paper quality control. The method allows independent droplet size and heat control in the mixture, resulting in flexibility that can not be offered by conventional steam showers or water spray systems individually. In one embodiment the apparatus consists of a plurality of actuator nozzle modules (10) which control the water volume flow feeding the nozzle (22) through a pneumatic pressure signal. Pressurized steam feeding the nozzle (22) is used to break the water into fine droplets. The resulting nozzle spray is a mixture of moisture in fine water droplets and steam vapor, and heat stored in the steam. Alternatively, a plurality of steam valves can be used to regulate the steam volume flow feeding each atomizing nozzle.

摘要: An induction heating system used on web manufacturing processes has one or more workcoils each with an associated power module. The power modules are cooled using water. In one embodiment the power modules and the workcoils are in physical contact with a full width water cooled support beam. In another embodiment the key heat generating elements of the power modules are mounted against a thermally conductive power module frame which is then mounted against the thermally conductive wall of an un-perforated water header.

摘要: A controller (30, 40) to provide base level fiber orientation control of a paper web. The controller (30, 40) achieves one or more indices that are derived from the online measurements of a fiber orientation sensor (24) of the fiber ratio and the fiber angle. The indices are used for control of the sheet forming processes. The controller (30, 40) may be implemented a single or multi stage fuzzy controller or the combination of fuzzy controllers with non-fuzzy logic controllers.

摘要: A method and system for controlling a scanning system for a paper machine is disclosed. The scanning system includes a first scanner (S1) having a first sensor head (H1) and a second scanner (S2) having a second sensor head (H2) and positioned downstream of the first scanner. Proportional integral derivative control maintains the first and second scanners on their corresponding trajectory arrays. The second scanner tracks the same location of the sheet as the first scanner and the first trajectory array is recalculated at each execution cycle.
