The present invention relates to a method of tapering a toothbrush bristle which increases production efficiency. The method includes the steps of cutting bundles of toothbrush bristles; and non-directionally immersing the entire cut bundles of toothbrush bristles into a chemical solution to taper both sides of the toothbrush bristles. According to the present invention, the production efficiency of a needle-shaped bristle is increased approximately three times, and the loss of raw materials is greatly decreased because several processes are not performed.

The present invention provides a needle-shaped bristle and a method of manufacturing the needle-shaped bristle. The manufacturing method of the present invention includes the steps of cutting and removing a packing sheet, which is wound around a bundle of bristles, by a length ranging from 30 mm to 50 mm from a first end thereof, and grinding first ends of the bristles using a rotating grinder. The manufacturing method further includes steps of packing the first end of the bundle of bristles, from which the packing sheet is removed, using a packing sheet, cutting the bundle of bristles to a length ranging from 22 mm to 32 mm, and immersing a second end of the cut bundle of bristles, thus tapering second ends of the bristles. The needle-shaped bristle has an advantage of realizing a reduction in the proportion of defective products.

Disclosed herein is a toothbrush with tapered bristles and method of manufacturing such toothbrushes. The toothbrush is characterized in that the tapered end of each bristle is 0.02mm or less of diameter. The bristle is tapered starting at a position of 3.5mm or less from an end, and is made of polyethylene terephthalate or polybutylene terephthalate. The method of this invention consists of the steps of dipping 3.5mm portions from ends of monofilaments for toothbrushes into erosive chemicals such as sulfuric acid or sodium hydroxide until the dipped portions of the monofilaments are completely eroded, neutralizing the shortened monofilaments prior to rinsing and drying them, and implanting the shortened monofilaments on a toothbrush. Thereafter, the shortened monofilaments are ground using a 240grit silicone carbide sheet at 2600 to 2700rpm for 3 to 10sec, a 320grit silicone carbide sheet at same speed for 3 to 10sec, and a 400grit silicone carbide sheet at same speed for 3 to 10sec. The toothbrush of this invention enjoys advantages of proper flexibility and softness, improved feeling while brushing, and excellent scaling ability.

The present invention relates to a toothbrush having needle-shaped bristles on the head portion and is configured in such a manner that the differences in height between the longer bristles and the shorter bristles is 1 to 4 mm, the end points of the longer bristles are 0.01 to 0.03 mm in diameter, the end points of the shorter bristles are 0.03 to 0.08 mm in diameter, the taper lengths of the longer bristles are 4 to 8 mm, the taper lengths of the shorter bristles are 2 to 6 mm, and the differences in taper length between the longer bristles and the shorter bristles is 1 to 4 mm. The toothbrush according to the present invention provides the superior teeth and gum contact force unique to a toothbrush having needle-shaped bristles and at the same time also provides superior cleaning performance for the surface of teeth thanks to the action of the shorter bristles having relatively large diameters at end points and relatively short taper lengths. In addition, the wearing-out of an end portion of the bristles is delayed thanks to the shorter bristles so that the effect of prolonging the lifespan of the toothbrush is provided.

The present invention relates to a method for tapering bristle of a toothbrush using grinding drums which have protrusions (11) with a height of 1.5 to 7.0mm, and which rotate in the vertical and horizontal directions, said method comprising a step of connecting the grinding drums in parallel, such that the grinding drums are arranged in sequence wherein the heights of the protrusions (11) of each of the grinding drums are gradually decreased, and a step of enabling the toothbrush with a non-tapered bristle to pass through each of the grinding drums in series such that the bristle can be ground. The method of the present invention produces highly tapered bristle having a tapered length of 5mm or longer and an end thickness of 0.02mm or less even without immersing brisle into chemicals, and prevents thermal deformations which may otherwise occur in the tapering process performed by a mechanical method.
