摘要： An apparatus and method for healing open wounds through enlargement of soft tissue surrounding said wound is comprised of a dome (12) configured to fit over the wound and at least a portion of the surrounding soft tissue. The dome (12) has a rim (14) with a surface area equal to or greater than the normal area of the dome opening to prevent medical complications caused by excessive pressure to the skin. A gasket (46) or other cushioning material may be provided about the periphery of the dome (12) for patient comfort and improved seal. The dome (12) also includes a vacuum pump (20) with a power source (22), pressure sensor (24), and servomechanism (26) for regulating the pressure within the dome (12) to any one of several protocols using pressures which might temporarily exceed non-damaging levels.

摘要： An apparatus and method for enlargement of soft tissue, such as breasts or a penis, is comprised of a dome (12) configured to fit over the area of desired augmentation. The dome has a rim (34) with a surface area sized to prevent excessive contact pressure to the skin when a suction force of sufficient magnitude to cause enlargement of the soft tissue is applied to the soft tissue by the dome. A dome for applying a vacuum to a patient's skin surface is comprised of a generally rigid dome capable of withstanding a pressure differential, with a rim cushion (46) underlying the rim of the dome for supporting a rim from the patient's skin surface. The rim may be generally wider than the dome in order to distribute the attendant forces across a greater surface and avoid tissue damage. A sticky sole underlies the rim cushion and seals the rim cushion to the patient's skin to thereby preserve the vacuum within the dome.

摘要： A medical device includes a controller having a microcomputer and sensor for monitoring and collecting data relating to a patient's compliance with a recommended or prescribed regimen for use of the medical device. The controller is battery operated and is recharged by placing the controller into a cradle which has a wall plug for providing power to the cradle and the controller. The cradle also has a modem and phone connection so that as the controller rests in the cradle, compliance data contained within the controller is automatically transmitted by a modem over the phone line connection to a central location. The central location includes a data network for receiving the patient compliance data, processing and storing it in virtual patient files, and one or more web servers host a web site for displaying the patient data in its processed form. Access to the web site is secure and allows a patient to view her own data. Additionally, medical professionals may access the web site not only to view data relating to all of their patients data but also to record data corresponding to patient information obtained during office visits which is then also processed for further display on the web site.
