The invention describes a means of eliminating potential dangerous bacteria such as Salmonella out of a mash product such as compound feed as applied in the feed milling industries by heat treatment. The invention makes use of the known characteristics of various bacteria to be sensitive for exposure to heat over a certain time. The invention covers the combination, use, and control of known machinery in the feed milling industries but also a new application for a screw conveyor as heat reactor barrel and barrel mixer as drying and cooling apparatus for the heat treated mash product such as compound feed. The invention provides means to have absolute control over the applied product temperature, time of exposure to subject temperature and moisture content in the product after the cooling means, relative to the moisture in the product at the beginning of the process. The invention makes it possible to conduct a heat treatment of animal feed in such way that a true hygienic feed production can be realised, close to food grade standards.

The invention describes an extrusion mill with a mill frame, a stationary installed extrusion roller frame in subject mill frame, with at least a single extrusion roller and a drum shaped die surrounding the roller frame, which rotates relatively to the roller frame by driving means. The driving means exist out of a stationary component of the extrusion mill which is executed as the stator of an electrical motor and a die, which is executed as the rotor of an electrical motor. It is also possible that the die is stationary relatively to the mill frame and the roller frame rotates relatively to the die. Here a stationary component of the extrusion mill is executed as the stator of an electrical motor and the roller frame executed as the rotor of an electrical motor.
