A process for producing a steel cord for pneumatic tyres with a bunch of wires, the core of which consists of wire filaments (10) arranged in a bunch parallel and adjacent to one another. There are advantageously at least three wire filaments (10, 20), where at least two wire filaments (10) are spirally wound as filaments (10) forming a core (60) and run parallel and beside each other and at least one wire filament is spirally wound around the two core filaments (10) as the wrapping wire (20). According to the invention, the spiral deformation of the wire filaments (10) is obtained by false twisters (40). This spiral deformation of the wire filaments (10) especially prevents migration of the filaments from the cord composite. It is an advantage if residual torsional stresses between the core filaments and in connection with the restoring forces of the wrapping wire are relieved. The steel cord also advantageously has a flattened, especially oval, shape.

A cord for reinforcing rubber items, e.g. pneumatic tyres for passenger and goods wehicles, consists of at least three wire filaments (2) arranged around a continuous core filament (3). According to the invention, the core filament (3) consists of a non-metallic material capable of contracting longitudinally when a rubber item (5) to be reinforced is vulcanised. Such a material is, in particular, undrawn nylon. When the rubber item (5) to be reinforced is vulcanised, the core filament (3) contracts and its diameter increases.

A wire filament (8) of the invention is produced by twisting drawn straight wire filaments (2) in the plastic deformation region followed by reversal, two wire filaments being put together and secured at the latest before reversal. Advantageously, at least two wire filaments (2) are brought together by means of a perforated plate (30), twisted around each other in a false twister (20) and plastically deformed and then reversed in a further false twister (40).

The invention relates to a process for wire patenting in which, after passing through a lead bath (1), the wire (3) is drawn on a flat, rising path controlled by guides (2, 4, 9) through a bed (7) of loose abrasive material, preferably coke grit and the wire path inside the granulated bed is changed at intervals or continuously. In wire patenting, the lead bath (1) serves to drop the wire temperature very rapidly and within narrow tolerances from about 1000 to about 500 °C, thus giving a microstructure easily drawn. In order to ensure the continuous cleansing of lead from the wire with the part of the process of wire patenting relating to the partial regeneration of the coke grit stripping bed (7), it is proposed according to the invention that the wire path within the granulated bed be determined by three guide members, with the outer two (2, 4) fixed and the centre one (9) movable.

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren und eine Vorrichtung zum Herstellen eines Bündels aus mehreren metallischen Einzeldrähten (Litze) oder eines Seils aus mehreren Litzen. Um Litzen einer wesentlich verbesserten Qualität zu erhalten, wird vorgeschlagen, der Litze bei der Herstellung eine niedrige konstante Zugspannung zu geben, im Bereich dieser niedrigen konstanten Zugspannung während des gesamten Herstellungsvorgangs den Torsionswert der Litze bzw. des Seils dauernd zu messen und bei Abweichungen des Torsionsmeßwertes vom vorgegebenen Torsionswert ein Steuersignal zu erzeugen, mittels dessen die Drehzahl der Überdreheinrichtung in der Weise verändert wird, daß die Litze bzw. das Seil wieder den eingestellten Torsionswert einnimmt.
