    摘要: A roller table provides a hot material path and heat insulating panels (20) are disposed below that path, between successive rollers (8) of the table. The panels are displaceable between a raised, operative position close to the hot material path and a lower, inoperative position in which the panel upper faces (20') are turned away from said path. The panels remain within the width of the roller table when they are so retracted. Further heat insulating panels (16) are displacably mounted on a frame (14) above the path. Temperature sensing means with the top panels actuate the displacement of both the upper and lower panels.

    摘要: An apparatus and a method for controlling the lateral temperature control of hot material on a roller table of a hot roller mill employs adjustable heat-insulating panels (32) below the hot material travel path (28), between the rollers of the roller table. Between each successive pair of rollers (2) a number of the heat-insulating panels (32) are arranged side by side, as a group spanning the width of the table. At least away from the entry end of the table, panels of each group can be displaced selectively to allow a greater loss of heat from a central region of the hot material between its side edges than in the side edge regions themselves. The selective displacement of the panels can be preprogrammed to be determined by the characteristics of the hot material entering the roller table.

    摘要: To protect a heat shield arrangement over of a hot-rolling mill, at the entry end of the table contact members (14) of large mass are suspended over the path of the hot material (M) to form a height barrier for distorted material. The members are suspended displaceably from bars (30) on a cantilevered support (12) that leaves one side of the table (2) open for the removal of scrapped material. The bars (30) pass through contoured apertures (32) in the members which permit the members to move in forwards and upwards so that when struck by the material they can lift and can also yield to the frictional force of the material travelling under them. The loading on the cantilevered support is thereby reduced. Reduction in peak loadings also result from mounting the members (14) on an upwardly pivotable cantilever frame (12, 60) and by damping the return movements of the members and/or the frame.

    摘要: The invention relates to screens for limiting heat losses from heated material, e.g. bars and slabs in rolling mills. Screens (20) are provided in the form of strings of heat insulating bodies composed of metal shells (32) containing insulating material (40). These screens may form curtains and/or covers (24) for the hot material. Containing chambers for the hot material may be provided with such strings of elements and the chambers may also comprise means for limiting heat conduction losses through the material supports therein. The screens may be collapsed over the hot material thereby completely surrounding and insulating the material from loss of heat. A displaceable chamber installation is also described for limiting heat loss when holding and transferring hot material between processing stages.
