Die Schaltung (S) umfasst eine Eingangsseite (1), an der eine Eingangsspannung (u1) anlegbar ist, eine Ausgangsseite (2), an der eine Ausgangsspannung (u2) abgreifbar ist, und ein Überspannungsschutzelement (V4), welches parallel zur Eingangsseite (1) geschaltet ist und eingerichtet ist, bei Auftreten eines Überspannungsimpulses an der Eingangsseite (1) zumindest einen Teil des Überspannungsimpulses über einen ersten Strompfad (i1) abzuleiten. Erfindungsgemäß ist ein Schutz-Transistor (T1) parallel zur Ausgangsseite (2) geschaltet und geht bei Auftreten eines Überspannungsimpulses an der Eingangsseite (1) von einem Sperrbetrieb in einen leitenden Betrieb über. Dadurch wird ein zum ersten Strompfad (i1) paralleler zweiter Strompfad (i2) entlang des Schutz-Transistors (T1) gebildet, so dass über den zweiten Strompfad (i2) der restliche Überspannungsimpuls abgeleitet werden kann.
