    摘要: A sealant composition for use in a tire (22) is disclosed. The sealant composition comprises 100 phr of elastomers, said elastomers comprising at least 60 phr or at least 75 phr of an isobutylene-based elastomer component and at least 5 phr or at least 8 phr of a conjugated diene-based elastomer component; at least 5 phr of a particulate filler; and at least 0.5 phr of an organic peroxide. Also, a method of forming a sealant layer and a method of manufacturing a pneumatic rubber tire having a puncture sealing feature is disclosed. The method comprises: building an unvulcanized tire (22) comprising a circumferential rubber tread (28), a supporting carcass (24), a containment layer (26), and a sealant layer (27) disposed intermediate the supporting carcass (24) and the containment layer (26), the sealant layer (24) comprising said sealant composition; and curing the unvulcanized tire (22) at a sufficient temperature to depolymerize the isobutylene-based elastomer component, at least partially, and to produce the pneumatic rubber tire having the puncture sealing feature.

Yet, a method of providing an air barrier layer to a tire is disclosed comprising at least the steps of: providing a cured tire comprising a tire cavity and an inner surface facing the tire cavity; extruding a tubular film of molten polymer; inserting the tubular film of molten polymer into the tire cavity of the cured tire; and expanding the tubular film in the tire cavity of the cured tire to form the air barrier layer adapted to the inner surface of the tire.

    摘要: A method is disclosed comprising placing a tire building drum of a tire building machine in a position relative to a machine vision system, the machine vision system being configured to generate a three dimensional image of the tire building drum as a breaker or a green rubber tread is applied to the tire building drum. In a first aspect, the method comprises: setting a radius of the tire building drum to a known radius; and attaching a calibration fixture to the tire building drum, where a position of a plurality of surfaces of the calibration fixture are known relative to a bottom surface of the calibration fixture; obtaining an axial image trace across the calibration fixture attached to the tire building drum; and mapping, from the axial image trace, a position in an array column of individual ones of a plurality of pixels to corresponding radius values relative to a center of the tire building drum for the machine vision system to be used to generate a subsequent three dimensional image. In a second aspect, the method comprises: identifying at least one edge of the tire building drum in the three dimensional image, wherein a location of the at least one edge comprises a corresponding at least one calibrated edge position; and storing the at least one calibrated edge position of the tire building drum for verification of a position of the tire building drum. Furthermore, an apparatus for practicing this method is disclosed.
