摘要: A system for producing superior quality synthesis gas ("syngas") consisting of a series of chambers in which the gasification stages of reaction, homogenization and activation occur. The first stage reaction stage agitates and combines the reactants, consisting primarily of organic matter, oxidizer and steam, to initiate gasification of the organic and volatile fraction and to transport the inorganic residue to continuous removal. In the homogenization chamber, turbulence is induced by injecting gaseous species. The gas mixture emerging from the homogenization chamber is accelerated via a third stage communicating duct and is introduced tangentially into the fourth stage activation chamber inducing a cyclonic motion wherein a high intensity radiant heat source is introduced along the central axis of the gas vortex. The syngas and remaining particulate materials are constrained to exit the activation stage through discrete portals which are oriented to further separate the syngas from the remaining entrained particulates.

摘要: A pyrolysis chamber (12) includes a bath of molten salt (20) divided by a horizontally disposed baffle (22) into an upper layer (24) and a lower layer (26). Connected to one end of the chamber (12) is a furnace (14) including submerged burners (38) for heating the salt and for maintaining it in its molten state. The molten salt (20) flows from the furnace (14) across the upper bath layer (24) and back to the furnace in the lower layer (26). Hydrocarbon containing material (57) is fed onto the upper bath layer (24) and is pyrolyzed as it moves toward the discharge end (16) of the chamber (12) where the spent material is removed; the hydrocarbon gases being recovered by an exhaust system (34) in the chamber. The molten salt (20) acts as a seal between the atmosphere of the furnace (14) and the pyrolysis chamber (12) and also functions to remove pollutants from the combustion gases of the burners (38) in the furnace.

Un matériau contenant des hydrocarbures (57) est amené sur la couche supérieure du bain (27) et est pyrolysé au fur et à mesure qu'il se déplace vers l'extrémité de décharge (16) de la chambre (12) où le matériau usé est retiré; les gaz d'hydrocarbures sont récupérés par un système d'échappement (34) prévu dans la chambre. Le sel en fusion (20) joue le rôle de joint entre les atmosphères du four (14) et de la chambre de pyrolyse (12) et a également la fonction d'extraire les substances polluantes des gaz de combustion des brûleurs (38) du four.
