摘要: The invention relates to a method of hydrogen production from a biomass-based synthesis gas in a biomass-based hydrogen production system comprising a pyrolysis reactor and a gasification reactor. The method comprises pyrolysing a provided biomass feedstock in a pyrolysis reactor to produce a pyrolysis gas (PG) and a solid pyrolysis char (PC). At least partially oxidizing the pyrolysis gas into a oxidized pyrolysis gas by providing an oxidizing gas and gasifying the pyrolysis char in a gasification reactor using the partially oxidized pyrolysis gas to produce a synthesis gas (SG). The synthesis gas has a high content of hydrogen molecules, H2. The synthesis gas (SG) is separated into two streams, one being a hydrogen-rich stream (H2G) and the other being an off-gas (OG) stream, wherein the off-gas stream comprises hydrogen at a lower concentration than in the hydrogen-rich stream, and other synthesis gas (SG) elements. The method further comprises extracting mechanical energy (ME), electrical energy (EE) and/or thermal energy (TE) from the off-gas (OG) by way of an energy conversion system (ECS), and using said mechanical, electrical, and/or thermal energy (EE and TE) to provide power to the biomass-based hydrogen production system. The invention further relates to a biomass-based hydrogen production system.

摘要: Improved processes and systems are disclosed for producing renewable hydrogen suitable for reducing metal ores, as well as for producing activated carbon. Some variations provide a process comprising: pyrolyzing biomass to generate a biogenic reagent comprising carbon and a pyrolysis off-gas; converting the pyrolysis off-gas to additional reducing gas and/or heat; reacting at least some of the biogenic reagent with a reactant to generate a reducing gas; and chemically reducing a metal oxide in the presence of the reducing gas. Some variations provide a process for producing renewable hydrogen by biomass pyrolysis to generate a biogenic reagent, conversion of the biogenic reagent to a reducing gas, and separation and recovery of hydrogen from the reducing gas. A reducing-gas composition for reducing a metal oxide is provided, comprising renewable hydrogen according to a hydrogen-isotope analysis. Reacted biogenic reagent may also be recovered as an activated carbon product. Many variations are disclosed.

摘要: The present invention discloses a method for producing water gas from palm tree empty fruit bunches. The method comprises the following steps of converting a raw material into palm biochar through physical and chemical reactions of drying and dehydration at 250°C-420°C by taking a waste of empty fruit bunches extruded from palm oil mill as raw material and then placing a carbon matrix in a water gas generator and converting the palm biochar into a water gas fuel. The preparation method of the present invention is simple, the conversion rate of converting the palm biocarbon into the water gas is high, and the obtained water gas is low in pollution and high in heat energy. The present invention provides a novel method for treatment and reuse of a palm oil processing waste, and can be used as an effective substitute for a non-renewable energy source which is coal for producing the water gas.

摘要: The invention is directed to a process to prepare an activated carbon product and a syngas mixture comprising hydrogen and carbon monoxide from a solid torrefied biomass feed comprising the following steps.
