Abstract: The present disclosure of the invention concerns embodiments directed to a multi-ion identification device, a system and method using the same to utilize chemical ionization (CI) in multiple adduct formation from the substances in the sampled gas of a gas sample being addressed to be analyzed in a mass analyzer. Abstract: The invention relates to a multi-mode ionization device (MID, 300B) in which two types of reagent ions that are generated by ionizing two reagents (R1, R2) in two separate reagent ion sources (302) are introduced into a reaction chamber (CH1) in which they are mixed with analytes (S) that are introduced into the reaction chamber as an analyte flow (301). The analyte (S) is ionized by chemical ionization by reactions with the reagent ions.
