Un appareil à gouverner à ailette (10) pour yacht comporte une potence (11) permettant la fixation sur l'arcasse du yacht (S), un basculeur (12) qui est mobile de manière pivotante sur la potence autour d'un axe de basculeur (C) dans le plan médian vertical longitudinal du yacht, un palan d'accouplement au gouvernail (15) reliant le basculeur au gouvernail du yacht (T, R), une rame asservie (13) montée sur le basculeur (12), mobile de manière pivotante avec ce dernier et rotative par rapport au basculeur autour d'un axe de rame (L) perpendiculaire à l'axe du basculeur, ainsi qu'un levier de manoeuvre (14), lequel est pourvu d'une ailette (42) et monté de manière pivotante sur un organe support (24) porté par la potence, l'axe de pivot (V) étant situé dans le même plan que l'axe du basculeur, le levier de manoeuvre (14) étant accouplé à la rame asservie (13) par une timonerie (16) de sorte que le mouvement de pivotement dudit levier entraîne la rotation de ladite rame et de ce fait, sous l'effet de forces hydrodynamiques, son pivotement de concert avec le basculeur (12) autour de l'axe de ce dernier. L'ailette (42) est réglable sur différentes positions au moyen d'un organe de commande (65) situé à l'extrémité supérieure du levier de manoeuvre.

Heat driven heat pump system comprising a cold chamber (22), a hot chamber (20), and an intermediate working chamber (18), regenerator means (30) intercoupling the hot and cold chambers, means coupled to all said chambers (14, 16, 18) for varying the volumes thereof in cyclic fashion to induce pressure and temperature changes in the working fluid in all three chambers, heat exchanger means (24) coupled between the hot chamber (20) and the regenerator means (30) for adding thermal energy to the working fluid, heat exchanger means (36) coupled between the intermediate chamber (18) and an intermediate region (32) of the regenerator means for extracting thermal energy, and heat exchanger means (40) coupled between the cold chamber (22) and the regenerator means (30) for adding thermal energy. According to the invention the pressure ratio between maximum and minimum pressures in the working fluid is between 1.1 and 1.5 and the ratio of the absolute temperatures of the hot and cold chambers is in excess of 1.5, such that an ambient source contributes heat to the working fluid through said heat exchanger means (40) at the cold chamber and the coefficient of performance between the thermal input at said hot chamber (20) and the output at said intermediate working chamber (18) is in excess of 1.4.

A wind vane steering gear (10) for a yacht comprises a bracket (11) adapted for attachment to the transom of the yacht (S), a rocker (12) which is pivotally movable on the bracket about a rocker axis (C) in the longitudinal vertical centre plane of the yacht, rudder coupling tackle (15) connecting the rocker with the yacht rudder (T, R), a servo oar (13) mounted on the rocker (12) and pivotally movable therewith and rotatable relative to the rocker about an oar axis (L) perpendicular to the rocker axis, and a steering arm (14) which is provided with a wind vane (42) and pivotally mounted on a support member (24) carried by the bracket with the pivot axis (V) situated in the same plane as the rocker axis, the steering arm (14) being coupled to the servo oar (13) by a linkage (16) so that pivotal motion of the steering arm causes the servo oar to be rotated and thereby, under the action of hydrodynamic forces, to be pivotally moved together with the rocker (12) about the rocker axis. The wind vane (42) is adjustable to different positions by means of an actuating member (65) at the upper end of the steering arm.
