摘要: The material compactor (10) generally includes a feed apparatus (12) and a final compaction apparatus (16). The final compaction apparatus (16) generally includes a compaction chamber (32) having confronting compression plates (44, 46) and an adjustably taperable portion (54). The area of the inner cavity (54) of the final compaction chamber can be adjusted to become measurably smaller (tapered) or larger at the opened discharge or expelling end (58). Consequently, compacting movement of the material within the compaction chamber and through the chamber significantly subjects the material to restrictive compacting pressure which in turn compacts the material and performs liquid separation with each operationally continuous movement through the final compaction apparatus and out an open discharge port (58).

摘要: A vise (10) has a fixed jaw (14) mounted stationary relative to a vise body (11). A movable jaw (20) is supported on side rails (18) that have upper way surfaces (18A). A jaw nut (24) that exerts a downward force on the movable jaw (20) is operated to move the movable jaw (20) along the way surfaces (18A). A resilient member (44,48; 82,83) is provided between the under side of the movable jaw (20) and at least one of the way surfaces (18A) to space the movable jaw (20) slightly from the way surfaces (18A) until the movable jaw (20) engages a workpiece (40) at which time the resilient material (44,48; 82,83) compresses and provides a positive hold down force on the workpiece (40).

摘要: A work stop (56) for use on a machine vise (10) is received in a jaw plate (20,22) for such vise (10) and is securely locked in position. The work stop (56) is fixed in a groove (58) that is machined int a top edge of the jaw plate (20,22) or jaw, with a member (57) extending over the edge of the jaw plate (20,22) and adjacent the face of the jaw plate (20,22) that is used for clamping a workpiece. This permits the workpiece to be slid against the stop (56) before being clamped. The jaw plate (20,22) is removable mounted onto a fixed jaw (18) and is located precisely relative to the fixed jaw (18) so that the jaw plate (20,22) with the work stop (56) attached an be removed, and then replaced when the same part is to be machined again.

摘要: A gas bearing (10) designed for instantaneous 5-10 micro inch separation at startup due to regulated entry and activation of rarefied molecular gas particles. The bearing has two opposing bearing faces (13, 21) with carefully matched geometries. One surface having grooves (15) with lands (16) formed between the grooves (15) that are designed for hydrodynamic operation. The other surface (21) is smooth such as an optically flat plane. The lift-off occurs at startup through the friction-energized gas molecules increasing their volume, and forcing the slowly rotating bearing faces apart. A precisely contoured leading edge (17A) is formed on each land (16) which sustains a negative molecular gas pressure in the slowly moving bearing interface, so as not to cause any unwarranted cooling or compression of the gas molecules until such speed is reached so that the normal pressurized gas bearing lift-off has been achieved, causing the gas compression flow to become unregulated and go normal.
