    Abstract: A circuit (10) likely to facilitate the mounting of retrofit solid-state lamps in place of filament lamps comprises a first (X1) and second (X2) line configured to have an input signal (Vin) applied between them at an input of circuit (10) and to provide an output signal (Vout) to a solid-state light source (L) at an output of circuit (10). In the first (X1) and second (X2) lines, first switch circuitry (Q2, Q3) is provided to couple the output of circuit (10) to the input (10) in response to the fact that the first switch circuitry (Q2, Q3) is conductive. It is then provided second switch circuitry (Q4, Q5) to connect a dummy electrical load (105) between the first line (X1) and the second line (X2) as well as logic inversion circuitry (106A, 106B) arranged between the first (Q2, Q3) and the second (Q4, Q5) switch circuitry. The circuit is driven (110B) to start in response to the application of the input signal (Vin) while the output is decoupled from the circuit input (10) and the dummy electrical load (105) is connected between the first line (X1) and the second line (X2), applying a delay from startup in making the first switch circuitry (Q2, Q3) conductive with the output coupled to the input of circuit (10) so that the output signal (Vout) is supplied to the solid-state light source (L) while the dummy electrical load (105) is disconnected.

    Abstract: A computer-vision system equipped with a first camera and a second camera spaced apart from each other enables acquisition of a first image (ImgL) and a second image (ImgR) of a light beam that propagates from a light-beam source towards a target position of the light beam. The first image (ImgL) and the second image (ImgR) of the beam differ from each other as a result of the first camera and the second camera being spaced apart from each other.
    The system produces (206) a disparity map of the first image (ImgL) and second image (ImgR) of the beam that is to be projected in a three-dimensional point cloud starting from the disparity map according to point-cloud-projection calibration data (CC) that set in relation disparity maps for reference images with respective three-dimensional point clouds. The points of the three-dimensional point cloud projected are clustered together (208) to produce a geometrical line (210) that extends between the light-beam source and the target position of the light beam. It is thus possible, for example, to locate an actual target position of the light beam, which is to be compared with a desired target position, detecting the relative offset thereof. The orientation of the beam can then be adjusted as a function of the offset detected, causing the light beam to propagate towards the desired target position.

    Abstract: Described herein is a method for driving (10) one or more electrically powered light sources, such as LED modules (121, 122, ..., 12n), applying thereto a pulse-width-modulated signal having a pulse-repetition frequency and a duty-cycle, the duty-cycle being selectively variable in order to vary the intensity of light emitted by the light source or light sources (121, 122, ..., 12n).
    To counter the occurrence of temporal light artefacts, or TLAs, the method envisages frequency modulating (100, V fm ) the pulse-width-modulated signal (V PWM ) by varying the pulse-repetition frequency thereof around a certain value between a lower frequency value and a higher frequency value, thus giving rise to a signal with combined FM/PWM modulation.

    Abstract: There is described an electronic converter (10) comprising a switching stage (112), a transformer (T), a measurement circuit (132) and a driver circuit (118). The transformer (T) includes a magnetization inductance (L M ), whereby the current ( i P ) flowing through the primary winding (T1) corresponds to the sum of the magnetization current and of a current ( i T1 ) which is proportional to the current ( i T2 ) flowing through the secondary winding (T2) of the transformer (T). The measurement circuit (132) determines a measurement signal (S' REG ) indicative of the current ( i T2 ) flowing through the secondary winding (T2) of the transformer (T). The driver circuit (118) drives ( DRV ) the switching stage (112) as a function of said measurement signal ( S' REG ) . Specifically, the driver circuit (118) is configured to:
    - during a first interval, apply a positive voltage to the primary winding (T1), whereby the magnetization current ( i LM ) increases substantially linearly, and
    - during a second interval, apply a negative voltage to the primary winding (T1), whereby the magnetization current ( i LM ) decreases substantially linearly.
    Specifically, the measurement circuit (132) comprises an inductive element (L) connected in series with the primary winding (T1), wherein the inductive element (L) supplies a first voltage ( V L ) proportional to the derivative of current ( i P ) flowing through the inductive element (L), whereby the first voltage ( V L ) includes a first offset during the first interval and a second offset during the second interval. The measurement circuit (132) moreover comprises an offset cancellation circuit (R1, R2, V aux ), configured to generate a second voltage ( V S ) by cancelling the first and/or the second offset from the first voltage (V L ), and an analog integrator (RF, CF) configured to generate the measurement signal ( S' REG ) by integrating the second voltage ( V S ) .
