摘要: A chuck (15) for use with a manual or powdered driver having a rotatable drive shaft including a primary tightening mechanism utilizing a three-jaw (65) assembly actuated by a nut (80) or tightening ring and a supplemental tightening mechanism (95). The supplemental tightening mechanism (95) includes a camming portion (100) defining a tightening cam profile (105) and a release cam profile (110). The supplemental tightening mechanism further includes a plurality of lever bars (120), one end of each of the lever bars forming a cam follower (125) and the other end of each of the lever bars (120) operatively associated with the nut (80) so that when the supplemental tightening mechanism (95) is actuated in a tightening direction, the lever bars (120) will force the nut forward to produce an enhanced tightening force on the tool through the jaws (65), and when the rear sleeve (115) is rotated in a release direction, the force applied to the nut (80) by the lever bars (120) will be released.

摘要: A non-impact keyless chuck suitable for use with manual or powered drivers is disclosed. The chuck comprises a body (16) having a relatively fine thread and a plurality of slidable jaws (18), which may be identical, driven by the rotatable nut (38). An anti-friction bearing (48) is disposed between the rotatable nut (38) and a bearing thrust ring (50) mounted on the body (16). A clutch or torque limiting mechanism is provided to limit the tightening torque to a predetermined value while the loosening torque may be limited or unlimited. The front sleeve (12), and rear sleeve (14), if used, may be formed from a structural plastic to reduce manufacturing costs. The front sleeve (12) is located with respect to the nose section (20) of the body (16) by a press-fitted retainer disc (84).

The outer sleeve (30) includes an engaging surface (D) having a portion (32) which forces the engaging device (A) radially inward to engage a saw blade (12) in the locking position of the sleeve (30). The chuck (10) is unlocked by moving the outer sleeve (30) to its released position, allowing the engaging member (A) to move radially outward to release the saw blade (12).

摘要: A quick-change chuck (10) has a body (12) having a recess (14) for receipt of a circular tool shank (16) and includes a number of tapered slots (18) communicating with the recess (14). An outer sleeve member (20) is coaxial about the body (12) and axially movable relative thereto. An axial spring (24) is disposed between the sleeve (20) and the body (12) biases the sleeve (20) longitudinally relative to the body (12) to a biased position. The sleeve (20) is axially movable against the biasing force of the spring (24) to a released position. Tapered pins (26) seated within the slots (18) contact a pin engaging surface (22, 122) on the inner diameter of the sleeve (20) and are forced radially inward within the slots (18) so as to extend into the recess (14) in the sleeve's (20) biased position. The pins (18) are movable radially outward within the slots (18) as the sleeve (20) is moved to its released position. The sleeve (20) can include a polymer sleeve (125) surrounding a cylindrical insert (121) with an axially extending slit (135) disposed through the insert (121) and between adjacent pin engaging surfaces (122).
