摘要： A chain or belt tensioner comprises a plunger (5) displaceable in a bore of a housing (1) between retracted and extended positions. A radially resilient stop ring (16) disposed in the bore between the plunger and housing is engaged in frictional contact with a smooth surface of the housing. A recess in the plunger (14) is defined opposite the smooth bore and has a tapered face (21) for engagement with a bevelled surface of the stop ring (16). The tapered face tapers radially inwardly in the direction towards the open end of the bore so that movement of the plunger relative to the housing towards the retracted position causes the tapered face to engage said surface of the stop ring and to force it to deform in a radial direction to a wedging position in which the stop ring is wedged between the tapered face and the bore surface so as to prevent further inward movement of the plunger. The recess has a second face that is engageable with the stop ring when the plunger is moved out of the housing towards the extended position so as to slide the member over the smooth bore surface. The invention provides for a stop mechanism that enables the inward retraction of the plunger to be prevented at an infinite number of positions.

摘要： A chain comprises inner and outer links that articulate relative to one another on pins (3). The outer links having apertures (14) which receive said pin ends in such a way that the links are easily assembled or dismantled. The pin ends have a retention portion (6) that defines a flat (9) and a bearing portion (7) disposed between the retention portion (6) and the inner link and defining a bearing surface for the outer link. The aperture in the outer link has an arcuate edge and a flat (15) corresponding to that on the retention portion (6). The bearing surface has an arcuate portion (10) that provides a rotational sliding fit with the arcuate edge of the outer link aperture (14) and a reduced portion (12) that is undercut with respect to the retention portion. The inner and outer links are rotatable relative to one another between a first position in which the flats (9,15) are aligned and outer link is separable from or connectable to the inner link by relative lateral movement and a second position in which inner and outer links are approximately longitudinally aligned and the flat edge (15) of the outer link aperture is disposed over the undercut (12) of the bearing surface. In this second position the retention portion adjacent the undercut serves to prevent lateral separation of the inner and outer links.

摘要： A door closer device for connection between a door leaf and a door frame serves to automatically close the door after opening. The device has a housing that is received in the door leaf and a chain have one end connected inside the housing and the other end connected to the door frame. A spring connects the chain to the housing and serves to urge the chain into the housing bore. The chain links are pivotally connected plates with opposed side edges arranged such that a side edge of a link faces a corresponding side edge of an adjacent link. Each side edge defines a first portion and a second portion. The facing first portions of adjacent links are adapted to come into abutment when the links are arranged such that the longitudinal axis of the chain extends substantially in a straight line so as to prevent the links from pivoting in a first direction. The facing second portions of adjacent links are adapted to come into abutment when the links are pivoted in a second direction opposite to the first direction such that the articulation is limited and the links describe a line that substantially follows an arc.

The plunger (80) projecting through an opening in the housing and is biased towards the extended position by a biasing spring (21). A passage (15) in the wall of the chamber (12) that provides communication between the chamber (12) and the reservoir (4) for hydraulic fluid to pass from the reservoir (4). The design is quick and cheap to manufacture. It provides a dedicated reservoir (4) of relatively large scale.
