摘要： Security can be provide for lottery tickets having data printed thereon in a bar code or other machine readable media by covering only a portion of the bar code with a scratch-off material. Removing the scratch-off material, or in some cases only a portion of the scratch-off material, can permit machine validation of the lottery tickets. For bar codes having a specified level of redundancy, it is desirable to cover at least enough of the bar code so as to prevent the machine reading of ticket validation data encoded in the bar code. Also, a lottery ticket can include a bar code printed on the ticket having both inventory and validation data along with a bar code printed on the front of the ticket including the validation data. All or part of the bar code printed on the front of the ticket can be covered by a scratch-off material.

摘要： A method and system encourage continued play of scratch-off lottery tickets remaining in a game after award of the seeded top prizes in the game. A total set of scratch-off lottery tickets for the game are subject to a single multi-tier prize structure that includes a top tier prize and a plurality of lower tier prize levels. Subsets of the total set of tickets each have a predetermined winning outcome at one of the lower tier prize levels. A first one of the subsets is divided into qualifying tickets and non-qualifying tickets, the qualifying tickets eligible for play in an additional game having a game prize at least equal to the top tier prize. The qualifying and/or non-qualifying tickets are provided with a printed mark that distinguishes the qualifying tickets from the non-qualifying tickets within the first subset. At redemption, the qualifying tickets are identified and entered into the additional game.

摘要： A system and method of selling pre-printed lottery game tickets, or a combination thereof in a retail store is disclosed. At least one lottery game token is provided bearing a game identification code thereon for being scanned at a POS terminal (42) provided as a part of an in-store POS network. The scanned identification code is detected by a POS monitor (15) in communication with the POS terminal, where the POS monitor determining from the scanned code the type of lottery game to be played. The POS monitor, or a separate ticket controller (16) in communication with the POS monitor, will then issue a dispense ticket command to a ticket dispenser located at the POS terminal for each pre-printed lottery game to be played. For each on-line lottery game to be played, a random series of lottery of lottery play numbers will be generated for the lottery tickets to be printed.

摘要： In a method for manufacturing instant lottery tickets where book numbers and ticket numbers are printed on the tickets utilizing a dual security process such that the book numbers are shuffled in each pool before the tickets are printed to break the link between the book numbers the ticket numbers or validation numbers, a reversing process can be used under certain predefined conditions to relate the original book numbers to the ticket numbers or validation numbers. In one example, where a shuffling algorithm utilizing seeds is used to shuffle the book numbers, the seeds used in the algorithm are maintained in an encrypted file. A decryption key for the encrypted seed file can be used by a lottery administration or trusted third party to reconstruct game play indicia for game adjustment purposes and manufacturing adjustments. To enhance security, the independent third party can also be used to administer the encryption and decryption keys during the ticket manufacturing process and during life of the instant ticket game.
