摘要： An iridescent sign and its method of manufacture requires a transparent substrate having a design printed thereon using a four-color process. A transparent film, having a pigment printed thereon, is laminated to the substrate with the design positioned between the substrate and the film. To obtain additional visual effects for the sign, selected portions of the substrate may be textured. Additionally, certain portions of the design can be masked with an opaque ink to give the masked portions a flat appearance while the remained of the sign retains its iridescent qualities.

摘要： A display (10) has a transparent plastic substrate (12) and a colored image (18) formed on the substrate. The colored image is formed on the substrate by process printing a large number of small dots, colored red, yellow, and blue, in a predetermined pattern onto the substrate. The red, yellow, and blue ink dots are translucent to visible light. A pattern of opaque white ink dots is process printed over selected portions of the image to highlight the selected portions and to thereby give the selected portions an appearance of relative depth. A reflective layer can be deposited against the ink patterns to reflect light which passes through the ink patterns and thereby give the image formed by the ink patterns a shiny, metallic appearance.

摘要： A picture display (10) includes a clear substrate (20) and a sealing sheet (34) which holds a masking liner (30) against the substrate (20) to create a pocket between the substrate and the liner. A picture (12) is insertable into the pocket where it can be held for display through the clear substrate (20). In the manufacture of the picture display (10), an ink deposit (28) is placed around the border of the substrate (20) and this deposit is then held between the substrate (20) and the sealing sheet (34). This creates a framing effect for any picture (12) which is placed in the pocket. Further, the sealing sheet is formed with a slit (40) which provides access into the pocket. Still further, a portion of the substrate can be heat formed to create a stand (18) for the picture display (10).

摘要： A system and a method for producing displays such as signs and cards includes a continuous substrate of material (14) which is passed from a supply roller (12) to a take-up roller (16). A series of revolving cylinders (26a-26e) containing ink are positioned to sequentially contact the substrate (14) as the substrate material moves to the take-up roller (16). The surface (28) of each of the cylinders is perforated by a predetermined pattern (30a-30e) of holes. The ink contained in the cylinders moves through the holes in the surface and is applied to the substrate (14) as the cylinder revolves. The patterns laid down by the separate cylinders are thus added to create the final design. The color, nature and visual quality of the ink pattern formed on the substrate may be varied by changing the number of cylinders and the types of ink applied.

摘要： Displays are commonly used in the area of marketing. The problem with traditional displays is their two-dimentsional, flat appearance. A need exists for a more aesthetically pleasing display with a three-dimensional appearance. This need is fulfilled with a display having a transparent plastic substrate (12) and a colored image (18) formed on the substrate (12). The colored image (18) is formed on the substrate (12) by process printing a large number of small dots (26), colored red, yellow, and blue, in a predetermined pattern onto the substrate (12). The red, yellow and blue ink dots (26) are translucent to visible light. A reflective layer (30) is deposited against the ink layer (24) to reflect light which passes through the ink layer (24) and thereby give the image (18) formed by the ink layer (24) a shiny, metallic appearance. A stratum (32) of opaque white ink is deposited between the reflective layer (30) and predetermined portions of the image (18) to block the passage of visible light from the predetermined portions to the reflective layer (30).
