摘要： A continuous casting mold assembly (10) has four mold walls (74a, 74b, 74c, 74d) in the form of discrete plates. The mold walls (74a, 74b, 74c, 74d) are arranged with an edge face (94) of each wall (74a, 74b, 74c, 74d) abutting a major face (91) of an adjacent mold wall (74a, 74b, 74c, 74d). To permit changes in taper, each of the mold walls (74a, 74b, 74c, 74d) is mounted for pivotal movement on two orthogonal axes. The mold walls (74a, 74b, 74c, 74d) are held together by springs (54) which can be hydraulically relieved when the mold walls (74a, 74b, 74c, 74d) are to be adjusted. The mold walls (74a, 74b, 74c, 74d) tend to move away from one another following hydraulic relief of the springs (54), and such movements are limited by screws (88) associated with the respective mold walls (74a, 74b, 74c, 74d). The screws (88) contact abutments (36, 42) when the mold walls (74a, 74b, 74c, 74d) have moved apart by distances large enough to allow pivoting of the walls (74a, 74b, 74c, 74d) but not large enough to permit molten material to leak between the walls (74a, 74b, 74c, 74d).
