[Problem] To provide a centrifugal separation device capable of achieving energy-saving operation in which operation is stable even when characteristics (particularly solids concentration) of a liquid to be treated change, and unnecessary power consumption is eliminated. [Solution] A centrifugal separation device provided with a bowl for imparting a centrifugal force to a liquid to be treated and centrifugally separating a solid and a liquid, a screw conveyer for conveying the solid in the bowl toward a discharge port, a drive motor for rotating the bowl, and a differential speed generating device for causing the screw conveyer to rotate at a differential speed relative to the bowl, wherein a control device is provided for automatically controlling the magnitude of the centrifugal force of the bowl in accordance with changes in the conveyance torque of the screw conveyor.

The object of the present invention is to provide an improved sealing property when a ring-shaped sealing member seals a gap between an opening of a casing serving as a pressure vessel and a connection portion of a rotation processing mechanism, which extends through the opening. The sealing member a three-layer structure in which a layer of a fluorine-base resin material, a layer of a rubber-base resin material and a base fabric of a nylon-base material are deposited in that order from a side contact with an internal atmosphere within the casing and the cross sectional shape of the sealing member is designed to have a convexly curved center portion and the opposing portions on both side of the central portion, so that the sealing property at the opening of the casing where the connection portion of the rotation processing mechanism can be enhanced. In addition, the degradation of the sealing property due to any shakes (vibrations) which may occur during the rotational movement of the casing.

A gearbox for a decanter type centrifugal separator is provided which can solve problems in association with bearings and can provide preferable differential rotation between a bowl and a screw conveyer (3). The gearbox includes: a first gear unit including a first planetary gear (P gear) that engages with a first ring gear (R gear) rotated by first driving means and with a non-rotating first sun gear (S gear); a second gear unit including a second P gear that engages with a second R gear rotated by the first driving means and with a second S gear rotating in response to the revolution of the first P gear, the revolution of the second P gear being transmitted to 3; a first-a gear unit including a first-a P gear that engages with a first-a S gear connected to and rotated by second driving means and further including a first-a R gear that rotates in response to the revolution of the first-a P gear and is connected to the second S gear, the revolution of the first-a P gear being transmitted to the second S gear; and a speed-change carrier that support the revolution of the first and first-a P gears. The cage of the bearing of each of the first and first-a P gears is a roller-guided cage made of a heat-resistant resin.

An apparatus capable of accurately measuring the concentration of a solid suspended in a liquid. A transmitter (1) for sending acoustic and light waves, and a receiver (2) positioned on the opposite side of the transmitter (1) are provided. Small tubular members (3, 4) surrounding a wave transmitting surface portion of the transmitter and a wave reveiving surface portion of the receiver and opened in the wave transmitting and receiving directions respectively, and a means for filling these small tubular members with a clean liquid or gas are also provided. Since the wave transmitting surface of the transmitter and the wave receiving surface of the receiver are not soiled with suspended solid deposited and formed thereon, an accurate concentration measuring operation can be carried out at all times.

Inside a hub (41) of a screw conveyor (40) is provided a cleaning liquid-receiving portion (43) for receiving a cleaning liquid for cleaning nozzles (45). Further, in the cleaning liquid-receiving portion (43) is provided a residual layer cleaning liquid-receiving portion (46) for receiving a cleaning liquid for cleaning a residual layer of processed objects at a screen portion (30). The residual layer cleaning liquid-receiving portion (46) is provided such that it is partitioned independently of the cleaning liquid-receiving portion (43). A cleaning liquid delivered to the residual layer-cleaning liquid-receiving portion (46) is directly jetted toward the residual layer of processed objects from the outer peripheral edge of a flight (42) with the residual layer-cleaning liquid-receiving portion (46) being partitioned from the cleaning liquid-receiving portion (43). The jetting is made by a cleaning route for a residual layer, which route is provided along a spiral direction of the flight (42).
